Mother Jones:
My friends, it is solidarity of labor we want. We do not want to find fault with each other, but to solidify our forces and say to each other: "We must be together; our masters are joined together and we must do the same thing." |

Subject: Voluntary Bridge to Retirement (VBR) Program
Brothers and Sisters,
I work very hard to keep the membership informed as to what is happening in regards to the current reduction of AA's flight schedule of 10-12 percent coming this fall and the resulting layoffs.
During Mondays Membership meetings I was ask a number of times if there was going to be a "Stand-in-Stead". At that time I had no word of any agreements from the company offering any options regarding the upcoming reduction in force. Now as you see from the attached document, I was notified by the ATD just an hour before an agreement was signed and even that notification came after the company published a special JETWIRE stating that American Airlines had come to an agreement with (APFA) Association of Professional Flight Attendants and the (TWU) Transport Workers Union to offer the (VBR) to their members. I continue to labor for this membership and press for our rights. I firmly believe that our rights and privileges include being well informed and given a choice for what might affect us in our current situation, well in advance!
Fraternally,
Steve Luis
President TWU Local 514
