AMT Day, May 24th

May 22, 2009

Charles Taylor BustDear Brothers & Sisters: With yesterdays passing of the FAA Reauthorization Bill on the House Floor, we are one step closer to leveling the playing field in the global aviation maintenance business. Sunday May 24th we take time to honor Charles “Charlie” Taylor, the very first Aircraft Maintenance Technician. Charlie was responsible for building the first engine that powered aircraft flight on the morning of December 17, 1903 in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. With this in mind, I would like to take the time to wish all Aircraft Maintenance Professional a safe and happy AMT day. Much has changed with aircraft since that day, but the one thing that remains constant is the professionalism and dedication focused on safety, by the men and woman that maintain the world’s aircraft daily. I want to say congratulations to all of you; enjoy the day honoring Charlie. Fraternally Robert Gless Assistant Director Air Transport Division Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Technician AMT Day Letter
