The Passing of Retired Brother Daniel Chasteen

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Brother Daniel Chasteen, age 72, who left this world on September 9, 2025.

Daniel had a long and distinguished career with American Airlines, serving as an Overhaul Support Mechanic from 1997 until his retirement in 2016.

Daniel touched the lives of countless individuals through his work and the lives of those he loved, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy will live on through us, and we are grateful for the time we had with him.

Rest in peace, dear brother. Your memory will be cherished forever.

October 31, 1952 – September 9, 2025

Daniel Chasteen, age 72, of Inola, Oklahoma, passed away on September 9, 2025.

Born on October 31, 1952, to Jack and Zelma Chasteen, Daniel grew up in Inola and attended Inola Public Schools. After marrying the love of his life, Kathy, on October 12, 1974, the couple shared 51 wonderful years together.

Daniel proudly served in the United States Army for a short time before beginning a long career at American Airlines, where he worked for more than 15 years.

Outside of work, Daniel had many hobbies that brought him joy. He loved race cars, restoring classic cars, hunting, watching football, and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Zelma Chasteen; his brothers; and his granddaughter, Sara Ann.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; daughter, Averie Chasteen; brothers, Lonnie, Buford, and Otto Chasteen and wife Janet; and grandchildren, Matthew Chasteen and Cheyenne Orcutt along with many other nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Daniel will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for cars, and the countless memories he created with those he loved.
