Jerry Benshoof

Jerry Allen Benshoof, 72, of Moore, OK, passed away April 1, 2012. He was born February 18, 1940, to Albert & Madeline Benshoof in Leeds, North Dakota. Jerry heard his country’s call and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1958.

Jerry was very active in Democratic politics. As a lobbyist for TWU Local 514 since 1981 he was an avid defender of workers rights. Jerry served as Chairman of the OKC Line Station for 35 years was a past past Oklahoma State AFL-CIO Executive Board member.

Jerry enjoyed taking Sunday drives and spending time at the lake. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kay Benshoof; two sons, Kevin Benshoof of Moore, Brent Benshoof and wife Paula of Moore; two daughters, Shelly Benavidez and husband Vincent of Moore, Tracy Clark of Moore; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Pierson and husband Dennis of Rugby, ND; two brothers: Patrick Benshoof and wife Delsie of Leeds, ND; Roger Benshoof and wife Louis of Plainview, IL.

Viewing will take place 9-9 Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at John M. Ireland Funeral Home; family will be receiving friends from 5-7. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at The Church of St. Andrew The Apostle, 800 NW 5, Moore, OK. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery, Moore, OK. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
