Pension Q&A – Dale Danker, Local 514 President

Pension-DankerBrothers and Sisters,

There have been no discussions and the TWU has no intentions of doing anything to the current frozen AA Pension Plan. This is a time for Solidarity as we move forward with this merger process. This is not the time to create mistrust driving a lack of unity before the eyes of the corporation that has put us where we are today. I am asking you to stand united as we once again get back to negotiations.

As your TWU Local 514 President I ask you to consider the following points:

1…AMFA is an association that does not organize labor they only raid other Unions. They don’t fight for workers’ rights. They don’t fight corporations that use politicians to change laws that allow companies to use bankruptcies to steal the benefits and wages. Unions do!

2… AMFA has never fought to keep Base Maintenance at any other airline. They will tell you anything to get cards signed. Their first contract at Southwest gave up in-house maintenance for a pay raise. You want a Southwest contract? Southwest has roughly 3.4 mechanics per aircraft. We are heading toward 1000 aircraft that would mean 3,400 A/C Mechanics enjoying the big pay raise. Check your Seniority to see what line station you can hold.

3…Our Pension is frozen and the TWU has no intentions of asking anyone to move it into the IAM National Pension Fund.

Please read the Association documents and think for yourself.

In Solidarity,
Dale Danker
