Representative Eric Proctor Goes To Bat for TWU Members

Eric Proctor House District 77

Sam Cirri’s press release regarding American Airlines’ plan to move 70 Maintenance Control Technicians (MCT) and 160 related support to Texas caught the eye of Oklahoma House District 77 Representative Eric Proctor. Representative Proctor pledged his support and announced his intent to speak against the move. The Tulsa community has invested millions of tax dollars in AA for a promise to keep jobs in Tulsa.

Eric met with MCT Ingo Wyman and members of his family Sunday at the TWU Union Hall. On Monday, Eric spoke at Local 514’s membership meeting about his campaign to keep American Airlines jobs in Oklahoma and he announced the website www.AmericanJobsForTulsa.com.

Eric said that he is an Oklahoma representative who believes the job of a state representative is to fight for working Oklahomans and to put people before politics. He believes the citizens of Oklahoma should be at the front of the line instead of special interest groups, big business, and political parties. Eric introduced legislation, albeit unsuccessfully, which would have regulated corporate welfare. So far the state does not have any regulation in place.

It is truly refreshing when an elected official calls the TWU because he is concerned about our TWU members and the economy. Normally we would have to contact our representatives in an attempt to convince them to do what is right for the working class and too many times we do not get the needed support.

Representative Proctor is involved with a youth ministry, helping the homeless, food banks, John 3:16 Mission and Habitat for Humanity. Prior to being elected, Eric served the community as an alternative high school history/government teacher in the Owasso school system. He is a fifth generation Oklahoma citizen.

Please join us in saying thanks to Eric Proctor for standing up for the working class and the TWU. Visit the website, AmericanJobsForTulsa.com, and sign the petition to keep AA jobs in Tulsa.
