The Passing of Retired Brother Edward Dresher

We share with you the passing of retired Brother Edward Dresher on March 31, 2024.

Ed started working for American Airlines back in 1955 and retired from the position of Facilities Maintenance Carpenter in 1989.

Obituary for Edward “Ed” Wade Dresher

Edward “Ed” Wade Dresher, 91, a resident of Fairland, Oklahoma, passed away from this life at his residence in Fairland, Oklahoma, on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Mr. Dresher was born on April 5, 1932, in Vinita, Oklahoma to Harry Sr. and Opal (Smith) Dresher. Ed graduated from Vinita High School with the class of 1950. After graduation he married the love of his life, Imogene Schmeling, on December 20, 1952. Together they would have four children. Ed worked for American Airlines as a carpenter until his retirement in 1989. After retirement he built him and Imogene a house in Fairland. After moving to Fairland, he became an active member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held many offices. Ed took on the responsibilities of superintendent of the Lutheran Cemetery for over thirty years. Ed loved to ride motorcycles. He was a member of the 200,000-mile club for BMW. He and Imogene would travel across the country and even into Mexico. He also loved taking his family on vacations, however they would “Rough It”. They would camp out in tents at various state and national parks along the way. He loved to travel so much that he would not go to the same place twice on his vacations. Ed also loved to SCUBA dive. When he was sixty years old Ed decided that he wanted to build his own airplane. He built the airplane and taught himself to fly. He flew his airplane until he was eighty-eight years old. During his time as a pilot, he took over three hundred people to fly with him. Ed’s passion for flying started from remote controlled airplanes. He built model airplanes his whole life and was a member of the RC Aircraft Club in Grove. Later in life he found passion in flying drones as well. He also loved playing poker with his son John monthly with friends.
Mr. Dresher is preceded in passing by his parents, Harry Sr. and Opal Dresher, brother Harry Everett Dresher Jr., sister Arline Powell and sister Eleanor Grimes.
Surviving Mr. Dresher is his wife, Imogene Dresher, son David Dresher and his wife Kathy of Denton, Texas, son John Dresher and his wife DeAnn of Wyandotte son Robert Dresher and his wife Sandy of Springdale, Arkansas, son Steven Dresher and his wife Janet of Catoosa, Oklahoma, brothers Jim Dresher and Tom Dresher along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Dresher will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M, on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland, Oklahoma. Funeral services have been scheduled for 10:30 A.M., Thursday, April 4, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairland, Oklahoma with Pastor Leo Schroeder officiating.
