The Passing of Retired Brother Kavin Adams

It is with a sad heart that we share with you the passing of retired Brother Kavin Adams on August 20, 2023.

Kavin started working with us here at American Airlines in 1997 as an Aviation Maintenance Mechanic. He retired in 2022.

Kavin Dean Adams, Sr. of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at the age of 63 after many months of a hard battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on Friday, February 12, 1960, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Kavin was the first child of Charlene (Kirkley) Adams and James Vernon Adams, Sr. On Saturday, December 29, 1979, Kavin married the love of his life, Sharon Ballard, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The couple were introduced by her friend and his cousin, and it was love at first sight. Kavin and Sharon knew each other only a few short weeks before tying the knot. A favorite quote of theirs, which Kavin loved: “They slipped briskly into an intimacy from which they never recovered.” Kavin was a retired aircraft mechanic at American Airlines.

Kavin enjoyed fishing, gardening, antique trucks – including his ’63 Chevy and ’48 Ford, and his Harley Davidson that he and Sharon would ride together.

Kavin was preceded in death by his parents, James Vernon Adams, Sr. and Charlene (Kirkley) Adams; his younger brother, Chuck; and a little sister, Brandy. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Sharon (Ballard) Adams; his children David Scott Adams and his wife, Dani, and Kavin Dean Adams, Jr.; two grandchildren that he was very proud of Kavin Dean Adams, III and Abigail Lynn Adams; his brother, James Adams, Jr. of Norman, Oklahoma; his loving step-mother, Uyvonna Jo Adams of Chandler, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews as well as other extended family and a lifetime of friends.

Services celebrating Kavin’s life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at Garrett Funeral Home Chapel with Kavin Adams, Jr. ministering.
