It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Retired Brother Stanley Black, who left us on May 2nd, 2024. Brother Stanley was a dedicated member of our American Airlines family, serving with us for over 42 years.
From his early days as a Fleet Service Clerk in 1982, Brother Stanley worked his way up the ranks, taking on various roles including Crew Chief – Fleet Service Clerk, and later becoming an Aviation Maintenance Technician. His expertise, compassion, and kindness earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and passengers alike.
Brother Stanley retired from his position as Fleet Service Clerk in 2009, but his legacy lived on through the countless lives he touched during his time with American Airlines. We are grateful for his service, dedication, and commitment to our airline.
We offer our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the entire American Airlines community. May Brother Stanley’s soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to us all.

Stan was known for his ability to create moments of intense excitement with perfect comedic timing. He was as ambitious as the is long, from flying planes to acting and scuba diving, geology camps, and completing the Iron Man Triathlon in 1984. He had a deep love for music, especially good Rock & Roll. Causing both smiles and groans simultaneously endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had an authentic charisma that lured you in.
Stan joins his father, Larry Lee Black, and sisters, Kay Larie Black and Laura Lee Black in the Angelic Realms.
He is survived by his beautiful Mother, Billie Kathryn Black. Please join us as we celebrate his life with love, laughter, and good music.
