Steve Luis, President of TWU Local 514, met with the membership at the Tulsa M&E base on Wednesday April 14th.
This was to let the membership know that our standing on negotiations has not changed.
Steve addressed the MOC move to DFW, 84-85 members that will be effected, Steve assured them that the TWU will be at the table where this matter is being addressed, we will have a say in how this is handled.
He addressed the NMB issue, at the time of this meeting we had only known that they were to have a decision made on our Release Request. Since then we have found that the NMB has requested that we continue Negotiations with American, although this is an unpopular decision with some members, We have to follow the Railway Labor Act.
Steve had pointed out that the membership had taken the “High Road” and remained a professional workforce and created a value for American Airlines. That will keep this Tulsa M&E open and even growing in the future. “All this is what has given us the power at the negotiations table” said Steve”I have all of you to thank for that.”
Steve then asked the members, ” Are you ready for the next step, if the NMB comes back with a release?” The members gave a resounding YES!!!
