VEOP and Oklahoma Unemployment benefits

Would I qualify for unemployment benefits if I elect the VEOP? 

Though leaving the company under this early out program is voluntary, the company will not contest claims for unemployment benefits filed under this program.


Why won’t they contest this?

The applicable section of the Oklahoma security act is Section 2-406; the full text of this law can be found by accessing the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission website at www.OK.GOV/OESC. Click on the link for OESC ACT which is found under “Additional Resources.” The Sections are listed in numerical order. Internet access is available at your local Oklahoma Works Center.

 You are allowed benefits effective DD/MM/YR. Basis of determination – 

THE CLAIMANT ACCEPTED AN OFFER FOR EARLY RETIREMENT AS PART OF A PLAN TO REDUCE THE WORKFORCE. THIS IS CONSIDERED A LACK OF WORK, BENEFITS ARE ALLOWED.
