Note from Local 514 President Dale Danker

DDankerBrothers and Sisters,

Your Local 514 Officers have been reviewing the LUS- IAM contract and comparing it to our contract. They have highlighted the benefits and language that would have a positive impact as well as the negative on all title groups represented. There are many questions and concerns about the process on how to move forward to combine a joint CBA between the TWU and the IAM. I am in constant contact with the international waiting to hear what the NMB’s ruling on the joint TWU-IAM filing will be. It is entirely in the NMB’s hands and they give no date when they will make a ruling. When they rule we will know what our options will be.

The International has put together a committee to oversee the seniority integration with the IAM. Gary Yingst and Jason Best are on that committee for Local 514. Title Chairman Dale Lantz, Pat Bax and Tony Bunch represent their respective titles on the sub-committee. We will get the information out as it becomes available.

Our AA system coordinator David Virella along with AA title II Intl. Rep. Tony McCoy came to the Hall on Tuesday August 19th to prepare for the Flex Vacation grievance. Our Officers did an excellent job helping them prepare for the September 9th hearing.

As most of you know we have members that are stuck on undesirable shifts and now that the company has made another adjustment to some of their start times they are unable to get to the membership meetings on time. We are discussing what changes need to be made to best serve the membership. Our desire is to have that change made before our September membership meeting.

Dale Danker
President Local 514
