It’s time to spring forward!

Daylight savings time is Sunday Mar 10, 2024

If you work during the time change, please review Hours of Service Article 14 Q. in the contract.

“Q. Employees who work in a location that changes to Daylight Saving Time, will on the date and shift that Daylight Saving Time goes into effect, work their regularly scheduled number of hours. Employees who work in a location that changes from Daylight Saving Time, will on the date and shift that Standard Time goes into effect, be required to work one (1) hour in addition to their regularly scheduled workday, and will be compensated for the additional hour at the applicable overtime rate. If the Company determines that less than a full crew is required during the last hour of the shift, it may offer employees the opportunity to leave early in occupation/classification seniority order. 

 1. Employees working under the provisions of a shift swap will be allowed to 12 work seventeen (17) hours on the day standard time goes into effect. (Fall 13 back)”

Last week, Jason, Tracy Hardin, and I went to MIA for the Engine MRO conference. There, we listened to companies, and speakers give some good and some not-so-good info on the supply of engines worldwide and the need for more.

Tulsa Technology Center

 *  Riverside Campus will be hosting the Aviation Maintenance Competition for students from all over the world and looking for people who would like to volunteer time to be a judge.

The competition consists of seventeen different areas such as Safety Wire, Precision Measuring, sheet metal fabrication, and Weight and Balance.

 Lunch will be provided for all the judges in attendance.

  • MLS 475 on base with a goal of 497 total. 17 on LOA
  • Areas and missing headcount. 022S -7, 026S -4, 031S -5, 032S -12 This includes 1 for CC, 034S -3, 206S -4.  All shops we are down -35 heads. 
  • They will be making 15 offers to people in the hiring pool. 
  • A lot of training was added to the Learning Hub. 
  • No job postings this weekend. It will be next weekend.
  • We currently have 101 open grievances.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

This week I attended the quarterly facilities update from the company in Dallas, For the last several months I have taken notes of the sub standard work and safety procedures our company is paying for with the contractors they hire, I made a point to highlight this with pictures in that meeting this week because as they say “a picture is worth a thousand words” I don’t know if we made a significant impact however I do know everyone in attendance was speechless.

The following is some information pertaining to the Flexible Spending Accounts :

  • March 15, 2024: Last day you can incur eligible dependent care expenses for your 2023 DCFSA.
  • March 31, 2024: Deadline to submit any reimbursements to Alight Smart-Choice Accounts through the Benefits Service Center for expenses incurred in 2023.
  • April 1, 2024–May 2, 2024: HCFSA and LPFSA blackout period, during which you will no longer be able to use your 2023 funds for reimbursement or access any carryover funds from your 2023 HCFSA or LPFSA. During this period, you will be able to access your 2024 contributions.
  • May 3, 2024: Date on which your 2023 HCFSA or LPFSA carryover funds will be available at Fidelity.

Tracy Hardin:

While working some grievances I have seen some overtime cases that are still being affected by shift swaps. If you are expected to be working for someone that will keep you from working overtime, don’t be surprised.

Benefits:

  • If you are a new hire and have questions about your benefits, if you can’t reach the benefit service center, please call the union hall or ask your shop steward for a contact. We are here to help.
  • If you added dependents to your medical coverage , check your medical card to make sure everyone is listed. I have seen a few not have family members listed, not listed, no coverage.

Veterans Committee:

  • The committee is continuing  relationships with the American Legion, DAV, and the VFW.
  • Working on supporting homeless veterans.
  • You can now order a work shirt from Aramark with a veterans patch on it. Go to JetNet.
  • Working to get new hire veterans involved.
  • The Oklahoma House of Representative has just advanced HB 2734 out of committee. This bill is aimed to make June 12th Women Veterans Appreciation Day.

COPE:

  • The Tulsa and Rogers County Election Boards are still in need of election poll workers. If you are interested contact them directly for more information.
  • Today, March 8th, is International Women’s Day! To get involved and see celebrations log onto https://www.un.org/en/observances/womens-day 

Remember- we have American Soldiers serving in hostile territory on foreign and domestic soil, pray for their safe return home.
