Fred Sapulpa Obituary

With our deepest sorrows, the Sapulpa family is announcing the passing of a beloved brother, husband, dad and uncle, Fred Sapulpa. He left our world May 1, 2024 from his Tulsa home.

Fred was born May 24 1948 in Claremore, OK to Harrison and Helen (Escoe) Sapulpa. He grew up alongside 3 brothers. He graduated Sapulpa High School where he once thought he’d quit and become a pool shark. He soon learned there was no one playing pool when school was in.

In 1969 he joined the United States Marine Corp and did not inform his mother until he was leaving for boot camp. She never wrote him. But when he returned she was a proud mother of a Marine and told all she knew. His job was driving for the Navy Admiral, one that he thoroughly enjoyed. He was proud of his unit as they had claimed top awards for their rifle drills. He joined the Muskogee Creek Nations Red Stick Society as a veteran.

Fred became a well known welder working around Tulsa. He eventually gained a position at American Airlines and retired in 2012 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Transport Workers Union.

He raised and loved his 3 children. He loved family gatherings and music, dancing, and camping. Fred was an avid news watcher and very knowledgeable on politics. He joined the American Legion during his retirement.

Fred was predeceased by his parents, brothers Doug and Merle, and grandson Jason Wiggins.

Left to cherish and keep alive his memories are his wife, Lymona, his brother Owen, and his 3 children Missy, Joe and Harrison.

His absence will also be felt by his close knit family of nieces, nephews, and in-laws as well as a host of friends and colleagues.
