Celebrating a Lifesaver

Nathan Gains Picture

Brother Nathan Gaines, TWU Local 514

When we think of the everyday heroes who keep our community thriving, we often picture the first responders, the teachers, the mentors. But there’s another kind of hero whose impact is measured not in miles traveled or lessons taught, but in gallons of life saving blood.

Brother Nathan Gaines is that hero.

From a High School Classroom to a Lifetime of Giving

At 17 years old, while most of us were worrying about finals and prom, Nathan stepped up to the donation chair for the first time. He discovered that a simple act giving a pint of blood could mean the difference between life and death for a stranger. That realization sparked a commitment that has never wavered.

30 Gallons – A Number That Tells a Story

  • 30 gallons of blood donated
  • 240 pints (the standard unit for blood donations)
  • 720 lives potentially helped (one pint can aid up to three patients)

Every time Nathan rolls up his sleeve, he’s not just donating blood – he’s giving hope, comfort, and a second chance to families across our region.

Thank You, Brother Nathan

On behalf of TWU Local 514, our families, and the countless patients whose lives you’ve touched, we extend our deepest gratitude. Your generosity is a living testament to the values we cherish: solidarity, service, and community.

Let’s keep the momentum going—because every pint counts, and heroes like Nathan show us exactly how.
