HAPPY 80th ANNIVERSARY TWU-514 this month! What a milestone to be a part of and it’s quite a bucket list to check off. CONGRATULATIONS to TWU and many more years to come!
Hiring
Remember if anyone you know is interested in working at American Airlines, have them go through their social media sites to delete comments and/or pictures if needed. The vendor that review’s resumes also looks at all social media sites. Most companies do this now, I wanted to remind you of this.
Security Turnstile
The security turnstile between the warehouse and the CAM – east end – has been turned in for repair. They are waiting for the right part to come in so it can be fixed.
Did You Know:
25 years ago our Nation changed forever on 9/11. American Airlines lost loved ones in co-workers, friends, family and neighbors. American Flight 11 and American Flight 77- United Flight 175 and United Flight 93. There is never a time to think 9/11 happened so long ago that people should “get over it” or use it as a type of joke to sell items. Those that would believe that is ok, need to do a reset on their brain. TWU lost workers on the ground that rallied to save people by driving their subway trains and buses back and forth into and out of the city. When these workers were ordered to stand down by management, they didn’t. They stayed and worked tirelessly saving lives that would have otherwise been lost. Some died on 9/11 and some years later from the fall out they breathed in on that day, our canine heroes as well! I have been to NYC before the Towers were targeted and to the memorial that stands today. It’s always humbling to stand at Ground Zero.
25 years later I remain thankful for all we have learned and lived through together as an airline family. I am grateful for the company I work for, the bills I am able to pay and my union that stands with our TWU workforce these last 80 years. I love that TWU is leading the fight against AI robot “drivers” to replace human train and bus operators. Robots, had they been in place that day, would have simply been shut down and more lives lost without the human factor being involved. I still try to write without AI 95% of the time. I want to remain ‘human’ in my words to you. When and if I make a mistake – that’s what it is, a mistake and we move on.Thanks to each of you that work your jobs, giving an honest day’s work for an excellent honest day’s pay. The union labor we put into American keeps the TUL base and TUL line (TLO) moving forward with more work coming in. Don’t be lazy, entitled or expect something for doing nothing, work union strong.
