Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century – FAA: Airman’s Address available to the general public

FAA-300x225As it is understandable that if you are available for hire, and are working on a contract basis, you may want your contact information available to those that would require your services. It would also serve as a contact for other needs that you may or may not look forward to.

Here is the link to the Airman Inquiry site: https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/airmeninquiry/

After submitting and email into the FAA site, requesting to change Releasability Status, This is what was replied:

Congress and the President in 2000 enacted the Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, and Section 715 allows the FAA to again make airmen’s addresses available to the general public.

If you choose to not have your address made available, you may not receive important aviation information from aviation associations and industry concerning safety, flying techniques, new products, legislative and regulatory positions, or aviation-related events.  You will continue to receive information produced and mailed by the FAA.

Please be aware that information regarding your certificate(s) cannot be withheld from the public, such as the type certificate(s) you hold and the ratings on the certificate(s).  The Privacy Act does not cover this information.  However, your personal information such as date of birth, social security number, height, weight, etc. is covered by the Privacy Act and is not released to the public.

The FAA takes no responsibility for information on any private Internet web site.

******************************
I input a code into your airman record that indicates you don’t want to have your address made available to the general public.

Your address will be removed from the Active Airmen Database. The website is updated each federal work day at midnight and the downloadable file is updated monthly.

The Aviation Investment and Reform Act for the 21st Century, in addition to other statutory requirements, require us to make airmen CERTIFICATE information available to the public.
