Chairman of Maintenance Report, October 5, 2017

Brother’s and Sister’s,

Pat Kinnamon
Chairman of Maintenance

I want to address 2 different subject’s today.
First:
The Company has identified 24 AMT’s as surplus between hangars 5 & 6.
  • Eleven (11) general’s from shop #2344, hanger 5,
  • Thirteen (13) general’s from shop #2257 in hangar 6.

They will be filling vacancies in hangars 1&2 and 3&4. Five of the vacancies are in hanger 1&2 and nineteen vacancies in 3&4. These vacancies will be filled by volunteers, then by inverse seniority. This is a result of the new 737 line that is scheduled to start November 4th, 2017.

Second:
The current shift swap policy and the Historical C/S policy.
The Company is currently telling our members that the shift swap policy is contractual. The fact’s are, this is a Tentative Agreement (TA) from the current negotiations with only the initials of the top negotiators from both the Company and the Association.
This was mutually agreed to be implemented as a POLICY because the Company was not wanting to give relief to the large number of workers forced to second shift and days off in the middle of the week. Although the shift swap policy does not fit the need of everyone, this will be a part of the future at the Tulsa Base.
Previously the Company had a policy in place that would allow us to report to work and leave to attend a Doctor’s visit or a similar appointment and then return to work and make up your time so you would not have to use your vacation bank.
The Company is currently telling our members that there are contractual restraints that do not allow this.
Article 3 of our CBA clearly states that the company has sole jurisdiction in the structuring of our shift schedules.
I need to be very clear that the Company CAN create a POLICY that would allow us to leave work and make up our time and the TWU would support this policy because it would help our members.
I have personally witnessed President Dale Danker fighting for this at the Tulsa Base.
I ask that you stay UNITED and support President Dale Danker in OUR fight for fair treatment and a Industry Leading Contract.
Thanks,
Pat Kinnamon
Chairman of Maintenance
