President:
The Executive Board members and I started the year off meeting with Tulsa MD Ed Sangricco and other Tulsa base leadership. Each Officer addressed issues in their areas. A common problem that was brought up was how DAT and Comp requests were handled around the Holidays. There will be a review of that process and a continued attempt to make it better.
Another issue that the officers and I are trying to correct is the bidding process. The Union’s position is that if there are 100 employees in a bid area, then there should be 100 choices for you to bid and 100 choices on the posted rosters after you bid. The Company is taking the liberty to reduce the amount of people on certain shifts and days off after the bid sheets go out. Ed and I have agreed to put some of his leaders along with Jay Potter and Don McCormick in meetings to vet what is going on and work together to resolve it.
Last, I want to let new hires know that if they are on probation under the 140 calendar days and need to take a day off for this weather emergency, your probation will not be extended by the time you take off.
As always, I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.
Take care,
Vice President:
Happy New Year!

401(k) contribution limits for 2025
The 401(k) contribution limit for 2025 is $23,500 for employee salary deferrals and $70,000 for the combined employee and employer contributions. If you’re age 50 to 59 or 64 or older, you’re eligible for an additional $7,500 in catch-up contributions. An important note: Beginning in 2025, those between ages 60 and 63 will be eligible to contribute up to $11,250 as a catch-up contribution. This means those 50 to 59 or 64 or older will be able to contribute up to $31,000 in 2025, and those 60 to 63 will be able to contribute up to $34,750 in 2025. Depending on your plan, you may be able to make post-tax contributions beyond the pretax and Roth contribution limit but less than the combined employee and employer contribution limit to invest even more for retirement. Total contributions cannot exceed your annual compensation at the company that sponsors your plan.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Happy new year
I know everyone knows this, but we have had several issues with contractors not doing what they have been contracted to do in all trades, with little or no repercussions for their actions recently. The contractors that are responsible for delivering the makeup air and leaving condensate in the plating shop have got the attention of everyone, including the ones that make the decisions. I’m very hopeful this situation in itself will bring to light the fact that it’s the AA employees who care and have the knowledge to not only correct the issues on the base but also should be the ones installing anything new or at least overseeing any contractors that come on our base.
As always, feel free to contact me at anytime

Grievances
This week’s grievance meeting was canceled because I attended a meeting with Ed Sangricco and the Directors. We will resume the meeting next week.
Benefits
I’ve had a lot of inquiries this week with members updating & checking on their union benefits. I reached out to the broker & this is her response:
Just to clarify, the rates are not changing. However, the premium increases when the salary increases for LTD only.
All members who updated by 11/30/24 have seen their new premium in the 1st paycheck of 2025.
All members who updated after 11/30/24 – 2/2/25 will see the new premium in the 2/9/25 check. We will repeat this process throughout the year.

Jay Potter:
Happy New Year! I’m hopeful most everyone had a healthy, happy and safe Holiday Season. I’m expecting 2025 to be a good year for the Tulsa Base. We have many getting closer to retirement; the Company is replacing them as well as adding headcount for the two (2) new check aircraft coming to Tulsa Base. Tulsa headcount for the Aviation Maintenance Group is now 207 physical heads down from where it was in January of 2020.
All this added work in AO drives additional headcount in the back shops as well. The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) requires the Non-AO Support Shops (Components Shops) to maintain a minimum headcount that equals 20% of the total headcount in the AO and AO Support Shops. Forty percent (40%) of that twenty percent (20%) total must be AMT’s. Therefore, the company has been replacing AMT’s in many of these shops and has been upgrading and hiring OSM’s in the Non-AO Support Shops as well.
Things you need to know this January 2025:
- New CBA Extension wages become effective January 06, 2025
- Article 9 – Filling of Vacancies changes for basic classifications. Per the Settlement and Clarification Letter dated October 15, 2024 (this letter can be found on our local website at twu514.org), effective the first bid in January 2025, you will be able to utilize your basic classification seniority to bid on basic classification jobs.
- Please note, this does not affect the filling of vacancies for premium jobs.
- Article 15 – Shift Swaps. Per the Settlement and Clarification Letter dated October 15, 2024, after January 13, 2025, you will be eligible for Field Trips while signed up for a swap.
- Article 19 – Field Trips. Per the Settlement and Clarification Letter dated October 15, 2024, the Field Trip list will have a one time reset of employees field trip hours on Jan 13, 2025.
- This resetting of the FT List is for the M&R Group only. The MLS group FT list will not be zeroed.
- In addition, when you transfer from one bid area to another, thereby changing the FT list your on, you will be added to the FT list in Classification Seniority order with the highest hours plus one (1) hour. The M&R book left this language silent and will now utilize the MLS JCBA Article 19 Field Trip Procedures, Section G. language.
- Article 18.U.3 – Resetting of the OT list. “On the second Monday of January, every year, at 2359 hrs. local time, the Company shall reset the hours by Classification Seniority on the OTL to zero for equalization purposes for all bid areas.”
- This will be Jan 13, 2025 for this year.
We had four members pass away during this Holiday Season, and please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers.
