Local 514’s Digest for the week of January 17th, 2025

President:

This week I sat in on a few meetings in Hangars 1,2 and, Hangar 6 to listen to Executive Board officers explain to management why certain aspects of the new bid were a violation of the contract. At the time of the meeting, I believe the officers got their points across and the needed changes were going to be made.

Joe Brown and I visited with some of the guys on 2nd shift in Hangar 5. My goal is to walk the entire base on all shifts, and get input from everyone concerning the “dodgeball” president grievance that I wrote on behalf of Tulsa. I appreciate the guys sharing with me their thoughts on a solution. It’s clear that everyone wants to be successful and to achieve that they need to stop getting bounced around so much.

I flew out to Phoenix, AZ for a meeting to discuss top issues in the M&R, MLS,  MCT, and MTS contracts. TWU Local 591,567,514  Presidents, Vice Presidents and top IAM reps that handle American Airlines contracts attended.

The goal of that meeting was to recognize what should be at the top of the list to go to arbitration. Letters will be sent to American Airlines stating our intentions.

Next week VP Johnson and  I travel to Dallas for 3 days of meetings to discuss these issues with AA.

As always, I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.

Take care,

Dale Danker

Vice President:

Martin Luther King Day is Monday, January 20th.

Union Steward sign-up is active until January 30, 2025. You can go to TWU514.org to sign up. Please note that the bylaws state that you must have attended three membership meetings within the previous 12 months. Please attend meetings if you want to become a steward and do not meet the requirements. We are always looking for stewards in many areas and can have elections if needed after the January deadline.

Dale and I attended a meeting with the Association Grievance Committee this week in Phoenix. We will have these meetings quarterly to discuss grievances across the system and work together to resolve them. Next week, we will take the issues we discussed to the American Airlines labor team.

Daron Morgan:

  • Continue to cover the grievance office daily
  • Continue working new and old grievances
  • Met with the CRO Leadership Tuesday January 14th and discussed qualls.  My next grievance meeting the the CRO Leadership will be on Tuesday January 28th
  • Also met again with the CRO Leadership on Thursday.  This is a new meeting that Craig Sully is starting up with everyone who has an injury in his area.  It is a non-disciplinary meeting, but I will say there are three members of management there next, and I would strongly recommend not to go in there alone. No one from the Union or safety was on the invite list.   Craig did mention during the meeting that in 2025 he had 75 injuries in CRO, and Tulsa Base Injuries were up by 50%.
  • Continue helping members with their Union Sponsored Benefits
  • It’s early in 2025, but we’ve already had some payroll issues.  Check your time coding daily.  If you need to find the payroll discrepancy form, go to:
    • Techops homepage
    • Go to Applications and click “View More”
    • Once expanded, go to applications
    • Find workforce Admin (WFA)
    • Follow the instructions
  • It may require a manager’s approval, but the company can cut an off-cycle check.
  • The next Tulsa Oiler Hockey Games in Tulsa are Jan 17th,18th and 19th.  Check their website for promotions.
  • MLK Holiday is on Monday, Jan 20th.  Our next Union negotiated Holiday will be Presidents Day on Monday, February 17th, 2025
