President:
This week, while at HDQ, I had the opportunity to visit with Greg Emerson and David Seymour. I shared with them my opinion on the continued disastrous decisions of the Tulsa management teams concerning the bid process. I think the decision to make crew chiefs play Dodgeball to pick crews is a complete failure. It was one of many items discussed in meetings this week with AA legal and their Labor Director. We will continue to push for a resolution, but if that can not be reached, I believe we will get an arbitration date sometime before September 2025. Please continue to work with your Crew Chiefs to make the best of this difficult situation.
On a positive note, I received a phone call from the MD of Tulsa, Ed Sangricco, who informed me that the American Planning Dept is asking Tulsa to take an additional 787 line and likely another 777. As with every past President, I aim to work with AA to bring as much work to Tulsa as possible—more work, more people, movement to better shifts, and job security. We will provide more details as we get them.
Local elections for Union Officer positions will be this year. Therefore, the rumors are starting to circulate. I was informed that on the social media platform “What’s App,” there’s chatter on how I purchase my travel arrangements. Those questions can be answered by our Treasurer, D’Ann Johnson. Any expense that an officer incurs is submitted through the process that has been in place for decades. She processes any expense, and every officer reviews and approves them every month during the board meeting. Then every month, D’Ann gives the financial report at all membership meetings and then asks if anyone has questions. If so, she gets the details of the question and answers it.
It is funny that the individual who is posting the rhetoric sets in the membership meeting while she gives her report but never asks any questions.
When I started as President the Treasurer, and I had to prematurely terminate investments in CD’s to ensure we had the financial strength to run the Union according to the Motions (rules) the membership had passed for the Officers to operate by. I’m happy to always hear D’Ann’s report when she says how much money our local has because we have the strongest balance sheet in the history of TWU Local 514. That achievement has happened because every Board I’ve served on has taken a very conservative approach to how and what we spend your Union dues on. Any accusations that I have wrongly spent your dues, I’d appreciate it if you ask the questions, but I guess it’s more entertaining to post on social media. So, like I said, it’s election season but if you read something or hear something you have a question on or would like to visit, I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089. I will be out on the floor on all shifts, meeting with Crews and Crew Chiefs and discussing the Presidential Grievance I call Dodgeball.
Take care,
Vice President:
Dale and I have been at the AA headquarters this week discussing the GRB process and grievance issues. We, along with TWU 567, 591, and the IAM representatives, also discussed cases being brought to arbitration.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Breaking it Down
This week we have been busy with the cold weather and breakdowns in several of our trades, from broken fire lines to electrical failures on the steam system, and many others, extreme temperatures tend to expose weak links.
We are also spending a lot of time trying to figure out who exactly in management is responsible for calling contractors instead of using the talent we are already paying for here on the base.
I’ve spent a lot of time in 32j’s this month. For those of you who don’t know, a 32j is a fact-finding meeting set up by management to gather facts about a particular incident, good or bad, although, in my experience, it’s rarely a good thing. All I can really say about this is if you feel the need to help management by calling them when you notice one of your colleagues not doing their job, you may find, in fact, they feel it is YOU not doing your job by spending time looking for others, it would be much better if you will contact your union before you go to management, so that we may talk to a particular person first.
Also, please keep your TMA caught up. Management has begun several coach and council meetings for those who aren’t
As always, feel free to contact me anytime.

Tracy Hardin:
I met with the AERO leadership to discuss and close out grievances. There are quite a few old ones that have to be addressed. I resolved seven and am still collecting data on others.
If you were hired in the last few weeks of December, please check your medical premiums to make sure they are being deducted correctly. If you have any questions, please give me a call.
I would like to thank all of our members who helped with the MLK Parade celebration on Monday, January 20th. You put a lot of hard work and planning into making it a successful event. You made all of our members proud to be one of the sponsors with your 1st. Place drill team and 3rd. Place float awards.

It has been about eight weeks since the last constructive grievance meeting due to holidays, interviews, and vacations. If an item is pressing, he does have an open-door policy to resolve those issues.
HGR 5/6
- 787 on 6C has been moving in the right direction. Welcome back home.
- 5F LG pits were filled with rock (40 Loads) and concrete on Jan 20/21. There is a 14-day cure time, but it takes 28 days to jack an airplane on the pad.
- Every dock is moving toward E-tasks. Feel free to reach out to the representatives for training and help.
- We have been working on bid issues across the base.
New Hires Employees on probation – This is a reminder since we need to be diligent on making new Union Members aware of points and consequences.
“The Company has informed us they have instituted a new policy for sick points due to a new hire having over 20 on probation before they caught them. Every point you receive, you will be brought over to the LTA’s for a discussion on attendance. Remember, you are an “At Will Employee,” and the company can end your employment for the first 140 calendar days for any reason. You must show up to work and bring a Union Steward with you for any discussions with Management.”

Daron Morgan:
- THE NEXT UNION MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS WILL BE ON THURSDAY JANUARY 30TH
- Continue Covering the Grievance Office daily
- Continue working on New and Old Grievances
- My next meeting with the CRO Leadership on Tuesday, Jan 28th, has been canceled due to scheduling conflicts. My next meeting with them will be on Tuesday, February 11th
- Continue to check and monitor your time daily in workbrain and ensure your time is being coded correctly. I have helped a few people this week fill out payroll discrepancies. If a day is not coded correctly, it could go unpaid as a UTO, trigger a point, and so on. If you catch it early on, it could possibly be prevented.
- I attended multiple CC meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday in 223 over the current crew rosters and crew bids.
- The next Tulsa Oilers Hockey Games are scheduled for Friday Jan 31st, Sat February 1st, and Sunday, February 2nd. We have tickets available in the grievance office and at the Union Hall.

Meetings with Director John Hollihan and Hgr 1A & 1B Crew Chiefs
- Myself and several other Local 514 Officers met with Hangar 1A & !B CC’s, Director John Hollihan, and Manager Kevin Underwood. We discussed and listened to the CC’s concerns with the January 2025 Rebid.
- The Union made clear our position in regard to the Rebid process. We believe the company and the union negotiated a process in the March 26, 2020, CBA that allows for the crew to know the location of a crew chief and be able to exercise their seniority to bid accordingly to be on that CC’s crew or not. The company does not agree. Therefore, Local 514 President Dale Danker has filed a Presidential Grievance known as the “Dodgeball Grievance”. While waiting for a resolution utilizing the grievance process, Mr. Hollihan and his leaders are attempting to mitigate the issues with the rebid.
- As the Scope report above shows, on any given day, the company outsources thirty-two (32) or more aircraft that are primarily check aircraft. Meanwhile, at the In-house Bases, we are only doing eight (8) to ten (10) aircraft checks. As a result of you being the “Best Workers in the World,” the company has recently brought two additional check aircraft to Tulsa. Local 514’s goal is to bring more and more outsourced work back in-house. I know we all want the Tulsa Base to be a secure future for the next generation of aircraft professionals, including many of our immediate and extended family members. Thanks for all you do every day to help make this happen!

Celebration of Life

Steve Hinton’s celebration of life is scheduled for February 2nd, starting at 2 PM. It will be a casual affair, as per his wishes. The venue is Hilton Garden Inn, 420 West Albany Street, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
His passing was 4:45 on December 26th, and his DOB was January 28th, 1958. He loved working for AA and did so for 40 years.
His camaraderie and dedication to flying people safely drove his purpose in life and gave him meaning.
