President:
All,
This week, I sat down with a few officers and had a live video discussion. We talked about a limited number of topics. I would like to do this more often in the future if you think there’s a value to doing them.
I’m available 24/7 at 918-636-6089.
Take care
Vice President:
Happy Valentine’s Day!
Monday, February 17th, is President’s Day.
We have 28 new hires onboarding next week. If you see a new face in your area, please make them feel welcome and assist them as needed.
I want to thank everyone for stepping up and volunteering as a Union Steward. You are the frontline of TWU 514, and we appreciate all you do. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me or any of the officers.
Chairman of Maintenance:
SOCIAL MEDIA
- Please be careful when using ANY social media platform; the world, along with the company you work for, is watching. Topics that you might not think are harmful, can be to everyone involved.
Bids/transfers
- If you are looking to move shops and are currently in a position that works for your home life or if you are in A/P School, please talk to a board member so we can explain the risk before moving shops.
Shift improvement
- If you are interested in shift improvement, contact the board member in your area so they can explain the process
Safety
- Slips, Trips, and falls are at an all-time HIGH. Please be aware of your surroundings.

bjracker@twumail.org
Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:
Here are some of the things we are working on this week;
Restarting our air compressor pm’s at the CRC instead of a contractor doing them. This was a warranty issue that automatically renews the contract and is no longer warranted.
Neglected Electrical pm service by the company. We currently have our TCC and engineering department going through the pm’s
More to come on this
Automotive: we are trying to get the company to open a TCC position for automotive, system-wide, and we are pressing for more headcount in Tulsa
Although we are trying to keep non-motorized GSE equipment in the back shops, where they have been done since inception, there is still a need for more GSE mechanics.
Painters, IF the company chooses to use high vis stickers instead of painting on the electrical grounding points or anything else, doors, walkways etc.. we feel this is also your work and are determined to prove this.
- Budgeted headcount 316
- Headcount on Loa 8
- Actual headcount 320
Happy Valentine’s Day, and as always, feel free to contact me anytime.

AAERO:
No big issues out of the AAERO department this week. Just as a reminder, there is no plan to reduce headcount. The volume of work may have slowed compared to last year, but everyone is staying put.
Benefits:
It has been confirmed that we will see improvements to our current STD/ LTD policy with no premium increase due to our wage adjustment in January.
Starting March 1st, all new STD claims will increase to a 60% payout, up from 50%. The new LTD claims will still pay at 50% but increase the monthly payout max to $7500. Coverage will continue to go until retirement age.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY! Make sure to let your loved ones know how much they are appreciated.
Most of the meetings with Management are between 9AM and 3PM. I am usually on base until 6:30PM and have no problem helping resolve issues as need be. You can contact myself or any officer if you have any questions or concerns.

- December – Resolved 14 with 2 paid and 12 W/D

SOCIAL MEDIA
Please refrain from posting anything on social media that relates to American Airlines or anything else that could incriminate you. The company has a social media policy online and has a team in Corporate Security that goes out and looks into postings involving the company.
Posting could lead to disciplinary action, including but not limited to termination.
HGR 5/6
- Every dock is moving toward E-tasks. Feel free to reach out to the representatives for training and help.
- 787 News – It has been announced that we will be getting another 787 line very soon to be in dock 6B. The management team has already started the process of obtaining the 142 heads (Manpower) to fill the line. Be looking for open transfers to the area.
- CC’s – With the additional line and head count increase, we will need approximately 10 more CC Positions. These should be posted over the next couple of months. Reach out to existing CC’s , Management, or myself about what the jobs will entail
AAERO Rumors – THIS IS A REPEAT SINCE THE RUMOR KEEPS GOING
They stated numerous times that no one will be surplused out. They need everyone they have in the group when the heavies pick back up in 3-4 months. They will however not be backfilling as much in some areas.
RETIREMENT – Whether you’re 60 days from retirement or 30 years. We highly recommend you go to the TWU Website and review the Retirement Checklist.
- It is crucial that each member is informed on what benefits are out there and what they should be doing to have a successful plan for retirement.
- There are hyperlinks to different resources on there with approximate timelines of when to complete or review the steps…
EACH member is responsible for their own financial situation. This will help guide you in the right direction.
