President:
During the latest round of Negotiations there were several open items we tried to resolve for the MTS (Maintenance Training Specialist). Although we were not able to close them out at that time the Association and the company continued to meet to discuss them. This week they were able to reach a resolution on those items. Here is the signed letter.
Also over this past year I have received several complaints on the job scope of the Safety Auditor in the Brake and Wheel Center. Let me be clear on this issue. If you are a safety auditor or you observe your safety auditor helping the company perform duties other than safety audit, per the contract, that is called MPR work. The contract allows 60 hours lifetime of MPR work. After 60 hours you will be removed from the Union, (you lose your job).
A safety auditor should spend 1 to 2 hours a week reviewing your shop’s safety items/issues. It should not be their primer duties nor should you have an office to work out of. If you are a Safety Auditor or observe your Safety Auditor performing a task that you believe may be outside the scope of Safety Audit please call me at 918-636-6089 and I will come to you and find out if it’s safety auditor duties or MPR.
No safety auditor should be viewed as the company suck, no safety auditor should be taking pictures of people working on the floor and sharing that with the company. If you’re a crew chief and you are having issues with your safety auditor, I would like a chance to help you with that.
It’s sad that 99.9% of the safety auditors do a wonderful job and help keep us safe and the shop in compliance. Let’s praise those Auditors doing a great job and let’s work together to help those that are not.
As always, I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089.
Take care,
Chairman of Maintenance:
