President:

This week we continued meeting with the Negotiations team to review language in all contract books
Thank you to all AMT’s and supporting classifications on AMT day. It is unthinkable to imagine an airplane crash, but it does happen. In our profession the company pushes all of us to go faster and do more while they look to cut out any expense they can to turn the most profits. It is you the worker that makes sure our families get on a safe aircraft. Thank you!
Happy Memorial day! I used to ponder if I should dust off the boat or just stay at the house and catch up on things. This year I will experience the true meaning of the holiday when I head up to the cemetery to lay flowers on my parents graves. Enjoy your family and friends and stay safe.
I can be reached 24/7 if you need assistance with anything.

Executive Board Members at Large:
Tracy Hardin
Last week, we made progress with our DC elected officials and their support of the FAA Re- Authorization Bill. This legislation affects us all on multiple levels.
This week, we celebrate our AMTs and all work groups that continue to show the value of all TWU members past, present, and future.
In the next few days, we will be observing the sacrifice our family, friends, and co-workers made for us all to be free and union-represented.
So, if you ask yourself, who are we? Sometimes, you can’t see or touch it, but you know we are all there. This is the makeup of the TWU.
I want to “Thank All My Brothers and Sisters for your Service” My TWU family.

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Memorial Day 2024 will occur on Monday, May 27.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.
Aviation Maintenance Technician Day on May 24, we take the time to honor all of our Aviation Maintenance techs because without them we’d never make it where we wanted to go. We often thank pilots and flight attendants while we make our way to and from far distances, but we never get to thank the important people on the ground who ensure our safety. Every time you step on a plane, every time you buy a ticket, every time you arrive safely, you have an aviation technician to thank. They are the unsung heroes of travelers and some of the hardest workers in the travel industry. While we have high respect for anybody who makes an honest living, Aviation Maintenance Techs are not your average maintenance person, they are mechanical experts dedicated to your safety. So today we offer a special thank you for continuing to break the barriers of human limitations and set course to the skies!

New TWU-Backed Bill Would Keep Engine Fumes Out of Passenger Planes
The Transport Workers Union is backing a bill from Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) that would require new aircraft to be built with electrical systems that provide clean, unpolluted air inside cabins – phasing out current bleed air systems that funnel pressurized air from aircraft engine compressors. Engine-compressed air can become toxic when oil or hydraulic fluid leaks occur.
The new bill, the Safe Air on Airplanes Act, will be introduced on Thursday, May 23rd and unveiled at a press conference…
TWU Stops Airport Tailgating & Curbs Airport Drinking
Union helps defeat a bill that would have allowed airline passengers in California to drink alcohol at airport gates right up to the moment they board their plane – which is a recipe for disaster.
The Transport Workers Union, which represents Flight Attendants and Airport Operations workers, successfully fought a California bill that would have allowed passengers to drink alcohol in airport waiting areas….
