Local 514’s Digest for the week of Jun 7, 2024

President:

As an International VP I’m required to attend IEC( International Executive Council) meetings. This week I attended an IEC meeting in Chicago. All divisions reported out what has been happening in their locals for the past months. The organizing committee has several campaigns going and their efforts are producing results. John Samuelsen reported that our Union is growing and winning industry leading contracts for our members. He also stated that the members that work at American Airlines will soon be in contract negotiations and he will be ready to bring a campaign to those negotiations to achieve industry leading contracts on AA property.

Also today and next week we continue contract talks with the negotiations team via zoom.

I can be reached at 918-636-6089

 Take care,

Dale Danker

  • June 16 is Father’s Day this year. Find activity ideas and learn about the history of Father’s Day.
  • June 19 is Juneteenth (Freedom Day or Emancipation Day). On this day in 1865, Union General Gordon Granger read the Emancipation Proclamation aloud in Galveston, Texas, effectively liberating enslaved people in the state, which had thus far been beyond control of the Union Army.
  • June 20 is the summer solstice, heralding summer start in the Northern Hemisphere. It’s the day with the most hours of daylight. In the Southern Hemisphere, winter begins at this time.

Big River Tulsa (formerly New Balance) in Utica Square offers 10% off for American Airlines employees and families.

As we gear up for summer travel with family or just R & R for yourself, there is another website that can help you make travel plans, www.UnionPlus.org can probably help with those last minute changes. From rental cars, hotels, and attractions, they are there to help make your vacation hassle free. Check them out.

Jun 6, 2024 was the 80 year anniversary for the remembrance of D-Day. That was the beginning to the end of WWII. If you see a veteran or know a veteran don’t forget to thank them now for what they did back then.

 Thank you all!

Happy Pride Month!

  • Continue working the Grievance Office Daily
  • Continue working New and Old Grievances

Tuesday June 4th, Joe and I met with the CRO Leadership for a 2nd Step grievance review.  Craig Sully was not there, but we were able to meet with Kit and Jay.  From that meeting, we had a total of 5 grievances that will be going to the GRB the last week in June, if we cannot get them settled locally

Tuesday afternoon we had a Local Grievance Review meeting at the Union Hall.  We made more progress at getting our grievances down to a manageable level

There are no sporting events this weekend (TWU Sponsored).  The next Tulsa Drillers home games will be June 11th- June 16th (Tickets are available at the Union Hall only).  The next Tulsa Oilers football game will be Saturday June 15th (Tickets are available at the Union Hall, and the Grievance Office)

We are still handing out AMT Day Pens in the Grievance Office and at the Union Hall

Thursday June 13th is the Annual Smoke-off at the Tulsa Base.  I am looking forward to seeing everyone out there.  It should be another great event.

The 2024 TWU Local 514 Family Fun Day was a huge success.  I want to send out a special thanks to all of those that volunteered their time to help make this event possible.  We could not have done it without them.   It was great seeing everyone there,  and getting to know people outside of work.

The next Union Membership Meeting will be Monday June 24th @ 7:15 a.m.,11:45 a.m., and 3:45 p.m.  Please make plans to attend, and make your voice heard.
