Local 514’s Digest for the week of August 2, 2024

President:

I had a Zoom call this week to discuss pay rates and premiums at other airlines. Discussion on IAM health care rates vs TWU health care rates. We have asked for a meeting with actuary Rich Pantoja to express the need for a comprehensive comparison chart.

Also this week the board and I reviewed all available September bid sheets to recognize all crew chief “dodgeball” areas. I expect to get an arbitrator date soon for this case.

There has been no further conversation from the company on an economic extension. TWU International Rep. Rollie Reaves will attend that meeting (RE:Association Update, July 26, 2024 posting).

Next week I travel to Denver for a TWU all Presidents meeting.

As always I can be reached 24/7 at 918-636-6089.

Dale Danker

Vice President:

Grievance Report

We currently have a total of 1335 open grievances. We have two discharges.

The E-board continues to work diligently on resolving the issues throughout the base. If you have any questions about contract violations please contact a Union Steward.

We have seen an increase in retirements. If you or someone you know is getting ready to retire, please let one of us know. As a member in good standing, we would like to present you with a gift upon you taking the step into your next adventure.

I have been working with Sheila Carlson trying to get answers on political paraphernalia from Sky View.

We have had a couple of incidents where people have been asked to remove items from vehicles, tool boxes, and peoples garments. You may not display anything that promotes an election of any one or thing. It is still gray on what all that entails. I will hopefully have some clarity on this soon. I understand that we all have our opinions and beliefs but we can not try to influence others to change theirs, especially at work.

Chairman of Facilities Maintenance:

I spent this week in Dallas speaking with the facilities group that is negotiating our portion of the contract and our international representative MR. Bill Clark, we as a group identified issues that hinders our ability to expand as an organization, preparing for the upcoming negotiations.

Since this meeting I personally feel more at ease knowing the issues we have in Tulsa are the same issues throughout the entire AA system and that everyone recognizes as needing addressed , this coupled with the support of our president, Mr.Dale Danker and the E board at our local 514,  I’m confident we will get language more suited to our needs in the new contract.

As always feel free to contact me at anytime.

Executive Board Members at Large:

George Albano:

On Wednesday, July 31st, I met with Bryan Beene to discuss several grievances.  Bryan is reviewing those & will be getting several paid.

There have been several close calls lately with members using scooter carts. Please slow down and obey all stop signs in the hangers and outside areas. Give pedestrians plenty of room when near them. Make sure all passengers have a factory-installed seat (no one’s legs should be hanging off of the side ). Do not modify the carts.
