Long Term Care Insurance – ( NOT LTD )

Several members have received letters regarding their Long Term Care Insurance. This insurance stopped being offered to employees in 2012. Below is the Company’s response:

MetLife has decided to discontinue payroll deductions and will be moving members to quarterly billing, as stated in the attached communication. This was a decision from MetLife to not only streamline their billing processes, but also allow those who still carry the benefit to have a direct relationship with MetLife, especially as covered team members begin accessing their LTC benefits.

EAP

Please be aware of alcohol consumption the night before work. Company policy prohibits an alcohol concentration of 0.02 or higher. An employee whose confirmation alcohol test result is 0.02 or higher will immediately be held out of service.

HGR5 is posted on the break room doors for Nominations for TWU514 Shop Stewards. I will pick up the nomination lists on Monday, August 18th, 2025. Please think about becoming a shop steward in HGR5, if it is your work area. Your consideration to do this important position is much appreciated. Any questions regarding this position please contact me.

The TWU Working Women’s Committee continues to take up donations for Emerson Elementary. There are flyers around the base and on our TWU website about their needs. Please take some time this weekend and buy some of those school supplies to bring into the union hall and/or contact Betty.Palmer@aa.com or Lisa.Prince@aa.com for pick up.

TWU Badges: If you are the FIRST in line at the time clocks and waiting to clock out remember this; If your ID badge gets close to the timeclock it can register early you used your ID badge and then when you do clock out with your fingerprint at your appointed time, it will show that you clocked out earlier when your badge first registered. Be sure to keep your badge secure and away from close proximity until time to clock out.

Check your clock times and work calendar every day in Work Brain to avoid any unforeseen issues with pay and time scheduled. If you work Double/Doubles or Swaps-this is an area to check daily when working. Make sure you look at the calendar to see what your start time is if you are unsure. MyTime is what you should check a few times a month to make sure your point levels are correct.

Please contact the Union if you are planning to retire or know of a Retirement Party that is planned. We want to make sure our TWU members receive their retirement gift and the information needed.

AERO:

The FAA audit is heavy on the minds of all of us, but don’t forget to take care of other housekeeping items. The shift bid window is open, and if you need help or run into issues, you can stop by the Admin building. They should be available 8/11 – 8/15 from 04:00 to 18:00 and 8/18 – 8/21 from 04:00 to 19:30.

BENEFITS:

There is an under utilized program that is available to AA team members. StayWell RX is a custom AA program that provides discounted prices for diabetes, asthma, and high blood medications to team members.

During our monthly benefits meeting with the team at headquarters, we discussed plans for fall enrollment. The road shows will be coming back so that you can ask questions that pertain to you. Take the time to become familiar with your benefits.

VETERANS:

We are starting to plan for the Veterans Day Parade and we are looking for more participants. So if yourself or a friend would like to join us on Veterans day to show support for our veterans, bring you motorcycles, bicycles, scooters, cars, trucks, tanks, and even your skate boards. We need your body and your spirit!

The next veterans committee will be on Wednesday, August 20th, at 1 pm in the grievance office.

NEOK Labor Council:

Remember, Labor Day is coming up in a few weeks, so come down to Henryette and celebrate with labor unions from all over the state. There will be events all weekend with the big parade on Monday, Labor Day.

  • August – Resolved 18 with 17 Paid 1 W/D

55 Active Grievances

We will be meeting again on August 26th to resolve the next batch.

Article 18 Par W 5b  – Late Call proffer under 12 hours

If the proffer of full shift or ECI overtime is less than twelve (12) hours in advance of the start of the overtime shift, such a proffer shall be made by phone or by positive contact if the employee is on shift working at the time of the overtime Proffer.

  1. Staff Admin may call you. If you answer, then you can accept or deny
  2. If no answer, they will send an email to the supervisor to tap you on the shoulder.
  3. The OT proffer will be halted until the Supervisors find the people on shift.
  4. Supervisors will now go directly to the Crew Chiefs and then go find you, if they find you the offer will be presented.  If they don’t find you “in your work area” they will continue to look and then take appropriate actions as to why you weren’t in your work area.
  • This could lead to an APS entry or a level.
  • If you are not in your work area, there will be no grievance filed or paid unless there is a viable reason! (Management is starting to crack down on this practice)

September Shift BidsIf you are having issues or just want clarification, get with a Union Steward or E-Board member to help walk you through the process.

  • Live Bid takes Priority – Pick the open slot in your 5-minute window.
  • Scheduled bid picks next – if you want S/S Days, then you need to select all the S/S days, 22 of them in bid unit 257 and 263.   Or do the easy thing and select one in the global pick
  • Global Picks – easiest selection to get the shift and day off pattern you want.

  • I have a Grievance Meeting scheduled for Wednesday Aug 20, 2025 with the HGR 1,2,3 Leadership Team as I start transitioning into my new coverage area.    One of the biggest questions yesterday from the townhalls that we took away was, “Why did the company take away all of the calibrated tooling away from Avionics in Hgr’s 1, 2, and 3?   We are looking into it.
  • I will say Thank you for everyone’s hard work.  Due to that, the company is bringing in additional work, and there is more work out there.

Thursday, I attended all three town hall meetings.  Some of the highlights were:

    • The big drivers were strikes against objects and situational awareness
    • We’ve had 11 AC damaged this year  vs. 11 total last year.   The company did mention some of the issues, but failed to mention a lot of other issues.
  • Staff Admin

On Its 90th Anniversary, AFL-CIO Sounds the Alarm on Threats to Social Security

“Social Security was born out of a promise: that no one who works their entire life should have to spend their later years in poverty. Working people fought and won this earned benefit and the right to retire with dignity. But on its 90th anniversary, that right is under threat like it hasn’t been in decades….

The Passing of Retired Brother Keith Olin Blanton

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Brother Keith Blanton, a dedicated and loyal member of our union family, on August 6, 2025.
