SPLITTING UP THE HANGARS

RUMOR HAS IT that the company is going to split the hangars into individual docks. While walking the floor in hangar 5 Thursday visiting with midnight crews I was told that the company was going to do it. I’m also being told that this will happen in hangars 1 & 2.

After listening to those from the floor, Gene Chapin and I went to visit with Robert Calhoun about what we were told. He stated that some Crew Chiefs want this separation to stabilize their crew rosters. I’ve been asked what my position is on the separation by several mechanics. Let me be clear, I’m opposed to it, and here’s why. The company will use Article 9ff to move everyone. Article 9ff is basically old TWU contract language. In the past they would freeze the transfer memorandum and move people causing considerable chaos.  The reduction of bid areas reduce Shift Swap options, vacation/DAT ratios and overtime opportunities.

As long as the company wants to keep everyone on multiple undesirable shifts, shifts which create chaos and inefficiencies, I will not be in favor of them taking options away from you, options that help you have better quality time away from work.

Once again it sounds like the company is telling us the beatings will continue until morale improves.

Stick together,

Dale Danker

CRO Shops Overtime: “The Companies Effort to Remove Double Time”

All CRO shop Union employees,

I’m hearing that Supervisors are trying to encourage you to only sign up for 4 hours early or 4 hours after shift OT. This is an underhanded practice that needs to be exposed. If the work they are calling Overtime for is scheduled maintenance then the OT ask should be for those who have signed up for 8 hours first, only after the list of those that have signed up for 8 hours has been exhausted, they then can run the 4 hour list.

Do not let the company’s low level supervisor do upper management’s bidding.

CONTRACT BOOKS:

Contract books are finally coming off the printing press and we will be out on all shifts to distribute them. We plan on starting next week, starting Tuesday the 28th. It will be a big task to get them in your hands. The company has agreed to allow us to use the “all call” paging system in each building. We will set up tables and computers in an area and then make a page to ask you all to come to that area. We will scan your badge and mark which contract book you get. Please don’t be discouraged if there’s a line.

I would like to ask that in time you look through your book and “dog ear” or highlight the pages that you believe need to be addressed in the next round of negotiations. The next round will start in 2024. The goal is to get everyone a contract book to look through. This was a contractual obligation from the company but the Association let them out of that requirement. These books were purchased with your local 514 dues money. Please take one.

Thanks,

Dale Danker

LIGHTNING ALERT:  What does it mean?

Yellow alert or Lightning Alert, within a certain distance of the base, is outlined in the company’s GPM. Please read the company’s manual on what to expect during these weather conditions. Do not let the company put you in harm’s way for their own greed. You have the right to tell them no if it’s a safety violation that is putting your life at risk.

HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

Good hydration is important all the time, especially when working outside. If you don’t drink enough fluids before, during and after work, particularly when you’re sweating a lot, you could become dehydrated.

Excessive Heat Situations

If you are in an enclosed building and continued temperatures reach the 90’s you are risking your health. Contact the Facilities maintenance group @ EXT:2500 and let them know the Building and Location. If the problem continues and you reach no satisfaction, Please contact Chairman of Facilities Maintenance , Travis Scott (918) 638-1104, Travis will be more than happy to expedite this process.

A Brother in Need

One of our TWU members is going through a very difficult time right now. With the recent birth of a child that requires medical attention, his wife was diagnosed with an illness before childbirth that requires immediate medical attention with extensive hospital stays. All of this treatment for new mom and child is having to be done out of state with Bradney being by their side.

His work group in 6C has provided ways for friends and co-workers to help the family during this very difficult time. I have provided the following information directing people to links where they can donate vacation, points, and money to the family.
