No grievances were resolved this week. We currently have 181 open grievances, and we continue working through the grievance process to address contractual violations and protect our members’ rights.

As always, our goal is to ensure the Company honors the Collective Bargaining Agreement and that our members receive the representation they deserve.

Union Business

Shop Stewards Meetings

On Monday, October 12, I attended the Shop Stewards meetings. These meetings are an important opportunity to discuss issues affecting our membership, share information, and ensure that our Shop Stewards have the support and resources they need to represent members throughout the Base.

Article 32J Investigations

Throughout the week, I participated in multiple Article 32J investigatory meetings, ensuring our members had Union representation throughout the process.

I want to remind everyone that if you are called into an investigatory meeting that could potentially lead to discipline, you have the right to request Union representation. Do not hesitate to exercise that right.

Vacation/DAT Window – Articles 23H and 23J

The Vacation/DAT window officially opened on Thursday, October 15, and will close on November 1, 2026.

I encourage everyone to review Article 23H of our Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding the vacation selection process.

Additionally, take the time to read Article 23J, which addresses the vacation (VC) ratios and the number of vacation slots that must be made available.

Last year, we identified multiple discrepancies across different shops where the Company had not allocated the contractual minimum number of VC slots. Through the grievance process, we were successful in getting those discrepancies corrected.

Hopefully, we will not encounter those same issues this year. However, we will continue monitoring the process to ensure the Company is following the contractual requirements.

If you believe your shop has not been allocated the proper number of vacation slots, please contact your Shop Steward or the Grievance Office so we can review the issue.

The contract establishes these requirements for a reason, and we expect the Company to follow them.

Benefits Report

BENEFITS OPEN ENROLLMENT STARTS OCTOBER 26, 2026!

This week, I continued to assist members with FMLA issues and questions about their benefits.

NGP Union-Sponsored Benefits

We continue to help members with their NGP union-sponsored benefit accounts, including access to their accounts, coverage questions, and changes to their benefits.

If you are experiencing problems accessing your account or have questions about your coverage, please reach out. We will do our best to help you get the answers you need.

I also want to remind members who have Critical Illness coverage through NGP that the plan includes a $75 Health Screening Benefit, subject to the terms of their coverage.

Members with Lincoln Financial Critical Illness coverage should also review their policy for the available Health Assessment Benefit. These are benefits that members may overlook, so take a few minutes to review your coverage.

FMLA Assistance

I continue working with members who are experiencing FMLA-related issues, including questions about documentation, certification requirements, and the process for maintaining their approved leave.

If you are having problems with your FMLA, please reach out before the situation becomes more complicated.

American Airlines Benefits Fair – October 26

The American Airlines Benefits Fair will be held at the Tulsa Base on Monday, October 26.

In addition to information concerning Company-sponsored benefits, TWU-sponsored Benefits Counselors will be on Base to assist members with their Union-sponsored benefits.

This is a good opportunity to review your coverage, ask questions, make applicable changes, and ensure your beneficiary information is up to date.

I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity.

Safety Corner – Communication, Accountability, and Knowing Where Your Crew Is

I want to remind everyone about something simple that can make a big difference when it comes to workplace safety.

If you need to leave your assigned work area for any reason, please take a moment to let your Crew Chief know.

This is not only a matter of common courtesy but also an important safety consideration.

There are several situations that could arise while you are away from your work area. You could be selected for a urinalysis, a fire or tornado emergency could occur, a fire suppression or foaming agent system could discharge, or another unexpected situation could develop that requires someone to locate you immediately.

We have experienced fire suppression foam discharges at the Tulsa Base, and those incidents should remind everyone just how quickly an unexpected situation can affect an entire work area.

Your Crew Chief needs to know where you are and how to reach you if something happens. During an emergency, knowing who is accounted for and who may still be in an affected area is extremely important.

This is not about micromanaging anyone. It is about communication, accountability, common courtesy, and most importantly, looking out for one another.

Crew Chiefs also have a responsibility to maintain awareness of their crew’s whereabouts, particularly during emergencies.

We work in an environment where conditions can change quickly, and the last thing anyone needs during an emergency is to be searching for someone without knowing where they are.

A little communication goes a long way. Taking a few seconds to let your Crew Chief know where you’re going could make a big difference when it matters most.

Remember, safety is everyone’s responsibility. Look out for yourself, look out for your coworkers, and let’s make sure everyone goes home safely at the end of their shift.

  • Location: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa

This year’s celebration will feature a live interactive DJ, photo booths with digital and printed pictures, magicians, special guests, casino games with prizes, food, drinks, and much more.

This is a special milestone for our Local, and we look forward to celebrating eight decades of solidarity, representation, and fighting for working families.

Built by our members, powered by solidarity.

As we move closer to the end of another year and begin preparing for contract negotiations next year, it is important that we remain informed, involved, and united.

Whether we are addressing grievances, protecting contractual vacation rights, representing members during investigations, or helping someone navigate a benefits issue, our responsibility remains the same: stand up for our members and hold the Company accountable to the agreement.

The rights and benefits we enjoy today did not come from the Company’s generosity. They were fought for and secured through generations of Union members standing together.

We cannot afford to become complacent or take those protections for granted.

I encourage everyone to stay involved, read your contract, communicate with your Shop Stewards, and speak up when something does not seem right.

Our strength has always come from our membership. As we prepare for the challenges and opportunities ahead, that unity will be more important than ever.

United we stand, divided we fall.
