The IAM International has placed District 142 under supervision

Dear Sisters and Brothers:
The IAM International has placed District 142 under supervision in accordance with the IAM Constitution following matters that have come to our attention concerning the administration of the District. District 142 President and Directing General Chair John Coveny has stepped down from his position. Regardless, the ongoing District nomination and election process will proceed as planned without interruption.

The interests and well-being of our members are always at the center of every decision we make. Our responsibility is to protect the good and welfare of the membership, respect the will of our members, and ensure our union continues to operate with the integrity, accountability and strength IAM members deserve.

We want to be clear that this action will not disrupt the representation District 142 members receive. Negotiations, grievance handling, workplace representation and the day-to-day operations of District 142 will continue without interruption. Members should continue to contact their representatives and utilize the resources of the District as they normally would.

In accordance with the IAM Constitution—which is established and governed by our membership—the IAM will conduct a full and fair investigation into the matters that led to this action. Our Constitution provides a fair and just process to ensure that all relevant facts are thoroughly reviewed and that the rights of everyone involved are respected throughout the process.

Our commitment throughout this process is to you, the members of District 142. We will ensure the District continues fulfilling its responsibilities to the membership, and we will provide additional information as appropriate. The IAM remains fully committed to protecting your rights, strengthening your representation and ensuring District 142 continues to serve its membership effectively.

We are fully committed to transparency throughout this process and will keep District 142 members informed as we move forward and as additional information becomes available.

In solidarity,

Brian Bryant, IAM Union International President

Richie Johnsen, IAM Union Air Transport General Vice President
