Brothers and Sisters,
I am hopeful that each one of you can share some moments of enjoyment with your loved ones this holiday season.
This year has been a very trying one for Local 514. We had set some goals and they were very tough to achieve. Local 514 is now operating within a budget. That was monumental. The removal of the “Baker Letter” made it tough on our finances, and so we had to come up with a new way of doing the business of this local. That challenge met an army of resistance. It too has been conquered.
From issues with members being out sick and the company making it tougher to return to work. To contract violations that kept each and every officer on their toes. We are still here. We have and will again be there to fight for the dignity you deserve on the job. For your safety, to make it possible for you to be with the ones you love.
Our present and future challenges are many.
For every member in our organization, there comes a moment when he or she must have the courage to step forward and meet the needs of the time. Regardless of whether your time is now or in the future, you must be prepared and willing to seize that moment as a Union!
I would also like to ask each of you that if you know of a member in need or if someone is struggling emotionally please reach out to them. We are each others keeper.
