Letter of Support from the Allied Pilots Association to John Samuelsen, TWU Intl President

Dear John,

On behalf of the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines the Allied Pilots Association supports Transport Workers Union Locals 513, 567 and 591 as they continue to negotiate with American Airlines.

In light of the unprecedented and historic profits of the U.S airline industry and American Airlines in particular, it’s imperative that American Airlines management embrace this opportunity to establish an historic unprecedented cooperation with labor.

Safety is a key aspect of this cooperation, and one that the flying public deserves and expects. However, management’s outsourcing of 50 percent of American’s overhaul maintenance offshore and 100 percent of the back-shop work to the lowest bidders, introduces challenges that make it difficult to put safety and American jobs first!

It’s with this in mind that the Allied Pilots Association stands in support of your pursuit for an industry-leading contract, putting safety where it belongs.

In Unity,

Captain Daniel F. Carey
President, Allied Pilots Association
