While we were also part of a volunteer project at the Tarrant Area Food Bank in Tarrant County Texas. We sorted, inspected, and packed 4192 lbs of food that will provide 3493 meals for those in need.

To All,

This will be the last Digest for this year. We will be starting back up again in January 2020.

Reflecting.

Negotiations have been less than inspiring, this may be due to the Association in part but I would like to remind you that our section 6 openers started in September of 2018. We had been in discussions with the company since 3-12-2015 on the blending of agreements, so we had a pretty good idea what a contract for the largest, most profitable airline in the world would look like.

The company at any time could have came forward with language that compensates the sacrifices that we all have endured. We in turn would have voted and moved through this with an agreement that would help to restore the Pride we have working for a company that values their “Team Members”.

Enough for a “Fairy Tale” ending such as the above would be considered.

The truth is, The company has been handing us language that is considered less than or equal to the current bankruptcy language we are living with today. I for one believe that any one of our members being at the table seeing this process of unacceptable language presented, would do exactly what we are seeing today. In summary, YOU would not bring back an agreement that is below what the largest and most profitable carrier in the world had placed on the table.

The company has used its powers of deception to throw carrots in front of language that would not be best for all of our future interests. The company is to blame for not bargaining in “Good Faith”, Not the Union.

I myself am thankful for the wisdom that our elected representatives have possessed in not giving in to the company redirect. I believe they are acting in the same manner that any one of us would had we been in their shoes.

To all our negotiators: lost time with their families, loved ones and endless hours of discussion on our behalf. We need to send our thanks and help them to have the strength needed to get us the contract that will bring Pride back into this American Airlines and even more important this Transport Workers Union of America.

Merry Christmas,

Al Ball
