VEOP and VLOA – From the President

Dale Danker
President
All,
As of today’s date, we are still waiting to hear a final official number.
The Unofficial number I am told is 325 members that have signed up in Tulsa for these programs.
There are lots of rumors and speculation on when layoff notices may go out to the members. As you all know, if the government does not provide additional pandemic relief money then the company could layoff people as early as October 1st. There is a contractual 2 week prior to layoff notification that they must follow.
We have asked the company if and when they intend to send out notifications and they have responded with “The answer to that questions is unknown at this time”.
As always, I will keep you informed as I know more.
On another note: I have lost a life long friend to this COVID-19. I cannot express enough to you and your families my concern that you stay safe and protect yourself as much as you possibly can.
Regards,
Dale

CARES Act 401(k) loans available through Fidelity through Sept. 22:
American Airlines team members now have the option to take a third loan against their 401(k) account through Fidelity. Until now, American’s 401(k) plan permitted team members to take up to two loans from their 401(k) accounts. American chose to make a third loan available, provided eligibility criteria are met, to help team members face the financial challenges that have resulted from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, eligible team members also have access to higher loan limits (the lesser of $100,000 or 100% of your vested account balance) and loan repayments will be deferred through at least the end of 2020. If you already have existing 401(k) loans, you may elect to suspend payments through the end of 2020, as well.
Team members who want to request a loan under the provisions of the CARES Act must do so before 3 p.m. CT Tuesday, Sept. 22. Call the American Airlines 401(k) Service Center at Fidelity at 800-354-3412 or go through the Fidelity NetBenefits website. Loan requests will require self-certification for eligibility. UNION SUPPORT NEEDED:
The House is coming back to session in DC as we speak to vote on a bill (H.R. 8015) that would provide much needed relief for the postal service. We need to get this message out ASAP to everyone we know including all carriers, union activists and members so that they can make phone calls to their representatives to urge them to support this bill. Time is of the essence. Please help us in spreading the word. Below is the information that was posted on the NALC website explaining the process and a link to get to it.
House voting on USPS relief this weekend: Call your rep and urge “Yes” vote
The House of Representatives is returning from August recess to vote on a bill that would provide $25 billion in financial relief to the Postal Service.
This funding is urgently needed to deter service cuts and to ensure that letter carriers have every tool needed to meet the needs of the public in delivering mail, essentials and in preparation for November. With the vote set for this weekend, we need letter carriers to contact their House Representative.
Tell your House Representative to Vote “Yes” to H.R. 8015 to provide relief to the Postal Service.
Call 844-477-7651 to be connected to your House Representative.
