National Mediation Board – List of Potential Eligible Voters

The National Mediation Board’s Investigator, Josie G. M. Bautista has posted the NMB decision on the number of eligible voters. This is important due to the fact that there must be a majority (50% + 1) of the eligible voters that have shown interest to have a vote on representation. With this current ruling (if no appeal changes) that would mean that 7203 of the eligible voters would have had to show interest in a representational change.

This was the summary of the NMB Decision:

Number of Potential Eligible Voters:

There were 13, 211 (less duplicate entries) Potential Eligible Voters on the List originally submitted by the Carrier on December 4, 2020. I am deleting 13 employees and adding 1205 employees as a result of my eligibility Ruling. Accordingly, the number of eligible voters in this case as of the cut-off date is 14,403.

4th of July is Sunday

Under the new contract the holiday will be observed on the actual day it falls. Monday is a regular work day.

Heat and You

Extreme heat is colorless, odorless, and silent; like heart disease, its reality seems abstract until it happens to you. Then it kills. In most years, heat is the deadliest type of weather event in the United States. At least 600 and possibly as many as 1,500 Americans die every year of heat-related disease, although the real numbers may be higher because all-cause mortality rises during heat waves.
