COVID 19:
AA has started taking our temperature here in Tulsa on Wednesday, May 13, 2020. This comes at a time when COVID 19 is on a rise in the heartlands of the USA. The company has put out a letter as to how this will occur. This new process is AA Company Policy. You may not refuse to comply or it could affect your employment.
Tests will be conducted at the following locations. This will happen upon arrival for a shift or when non-shift workers arrive at their work location. Depending on location and time, anyone leaving and re-entering a facility will be rescreened:
-
- All three entrances to the Main Tulsa Base (North Gate, Main Gate, and South Gate)
- Hangar 80
-
- Composite Repair Center
-
- APU Center
-
- Wheel and Brake Center
-
- TEW Warehouse
If your temperature registers 100.4? or higher, you will receive a temperature recheck using a different thermometer. If your temperature registers 100.4? or higher for a second time, you will be asked to step aside for a third temperature recheck in 15 minutes. During this wait time, you may not take fever-reducing medications.
If your temperature registers 100.4? or higher for a third time, you will be sent home and given a handout with more information and next steps, including a reminder to seek care if needed and report your absence through your normal department/workgroup channels.
As part of the trial program, your absence will be coded and you will be paid as pandemic leave for the first three days. During these three days, you won’t accrue any attendance points. If you need to be out beyond three days, you have options available to you:
You can apply for pandemic leave on Jetnet. If eligible, you’ll receive 11 additional days of pandemic leave pay.
You may use sick time to cover the additional time away from work.
You may return to work for your next shift once you are fever-free without medication.
As Safety is the number one fight we have here at the Tulsa base, the Local stands behind this process, if you feel you have been dealt with unfairly, as always, contact your Shop Steward and pursue this issue.
Memorial Day Holiday:
Don’t forget to sign up to NOT work the Holiday if you want to enjoy the day off. It’s my understanding AA will NOT be working in the CRO Organization and or AAERO Organization, there is only a small group of workers needed to support the aircraft in active storage that is worked by the A/O Organization. Contractually the company is required to notify each area with a 7-day notice if you will not be required to report to work and those of you who will be required to work will be notified as well in order of Occupational Seniority. (Per Article 22 para, (A) 2. & 3. And para, (C) )
Thanks,
Pat Kinnamon
Chairman of Maintenance
The Scholarship Deadline is Extended Until May 24
Upcoming Bid:
AMT & Related
We are continuing to meet with AA in regards to Bid Areas/Locations as outlined in the new JCBA, I believe we are making progress, especially this week as the company has come to the realization what the agreement says and the intent of what was bargained for in negotiations, we ask for our member’s patience as we continue to work through these issues that we will be held to for the duration of this agreement. The company is shooting for June 13th for the next shift bid. As your Maintenance Chairman, I ask that we work as diligently and efficiently as possible during this difficult time as to show the Company the value of the Maintenance Group here at Tulsa Base.
Thanks,

Javits Seniority List
As required by the recently ratified Association CBAs, American Airlines has posted the updated seniority lists for all classifications. That posting can be found on JetNet at https://people.aa.com/sm/reports/twuiam_seniority/.
Association represented employees may protest any omission or error, which they believe affects their seniority, within thirty (30) days of the posting. Timely submissions received on or before Monday June 15, 2020 will be reviewed and a final determination of seniority, adjustment or denial, will be binding on the parties. Keep in mind that all seniority dates prior to September 16, 2016 were subject to an earlier final and binding protest process. All seniority determinations will be recorded and final revised seniority lists will be posted by the Company. Any employee on leave at the time of posting will have a period of thirty (30) days from his/her date of return to service to file a protest.
New Pay Methodology
Now that American and the TWU-IAM have ratified the joint collective bargaining agreement (JCBA), we’re moving ahead with certain payroll alignments that will bring you closer to joining our new payroll and timekeeping systems over the next 12 months.
During the pay alignment phase, some workgroups may see only one change, while others will see more. At a high level, here are the changes you might experience:
-
- Pay frequency: Some groups currently paid weekly will transition to a biweekly pay schedule, while other groups paid biweekly will transition to a weekly pay schedule.
- Pay in arrears: If you are paid using a pay current methodology, you’ll move to a pay in arrears Methodology.
- Workweek: If your workweek runs from Saturday through Friday, it will change to run from Monday through Sunday.
- Payroll system: All workgroups will transition to the new unified payroll system in a phased approach over the next 12 months.
Making sure you understand these payroll changes is a priority for us. That’s why we’ll have a number of resources available for you, including comprehensive guides for some workgroups detailing everything you can expect. We’re also planning web-based training through the Learning Hub for some workgroups, depending on the type and number of payroll changes they’ll experience. Keep an eye on your aa.com email account as well, as that is where we’ll send additional information.
