Angel Tree:

The 2020 Salvation Army Angel Tree program will return this year with a limited run. We have 100 angels adopted that will be placed in different locations throughout the base and offsites. We committed to a small number due to our own working conditions and limited staffing. If you can help individually or as a team it would be greatly appreciated. Please look for the angels hanging from the Christmas Trees around the complex and if you can, bring a smile to a needy person this holiday season.

AMFA

More Facts About the AMFA Raid

This is a followup to the video that TWU International President John Samuelsen posted. I am the designated TWU International Air Division Officer responsible for the oversight for the M&R contract at American Airlines, working directly with the TWU Local Presidents. TWU has ~150,000 members in our Air, Transit, & Rail Divisions, with ~66,000 of those members in the Air Division. TWU is a member of the ~12,500,000 member AFL-CIO and has labor coalitions with several non AFL-CIO affiliates. AMFA has ~3700 members and is not affiliated with any other national labor organization in the United States.

AMFA Rebuttal Part 2: Including AMFA’s Cause & Effect On AA Brake Riding!

In his video, a self proclaimed AMFA organizer tried to justify AMFA’s raid. A “raid” has always been – an attempt to solicit workers belonging to or represented by another union. The AMFA organizer cannot deny that AMFA’s Assistant Director has written a letter acknowledging that they are running a raid at American.

AMFA Rebuttal Part 3: AMFA Organizer Exposed

In this video, a known AMFA Organizer is exposed with documented facts: the bonus payout vs. the lawsuit, how AMFA settled their lawsuit with Southwest exposing its mechanics, & how his longstanding relationships with management & outsourcing vendors help finance his self-serving AMFA agenda.

AMFA Rebuttal Part 4: TWU Legislative Power

TWU has a legislative team based in Washington DC, that works with the Transportation Trades Department at AFL-CIO, composed of a coalition of 33 member unions dedicated to providing a bold voice for transportation workers across America. AMFA has one mechanic, who works part-time as their legislative representative and a $5000 a month – 2 person lobbying firm. While TWU and the Unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO fight for, and win, legislation in Washington DC, like the Cares Act PSP for all airline workers – AMFA did nothing!

AMFA Rebuttal Part 5: Contract Implementation

AMFA organizers LIE about contract implementation, again more fake news! 50+ are implemented, including all Economics and Scope. AMFA had nothing to implement, since they failed to negotiate any significant improvements in 7 years of negotiations

AMFA Rebuttal Part 6: AMFA Scope vs.The Association Scope

AMFA has horrible Scope protection for their members, the only real benefit of the language goes to the Company and the limited amount of M&R represented members the Company has to employ. With so much work allowed to be outsourced, AMFA not only has work performed in overhauls vendor facilities but in reality has almost zero restriction on who does work for them domestically. When Southwest entered into the Hawaiian market, AMFA immediately gave all their maintenance work over to vendors immediately, even though they said this would not allow this additional outsourcing to happen during their negotiations.

GSE/FACILITIES THINGS TO KNOW

  1. Management will use phrases like “unskilled work” as part of their explanation for having you do another trades job.

We may assist other trades, not go do another trades work for which you are not “QUALIFIED”.

  2. Management says CC’s will determine who is qualified to do certain work (unskilled work).

CC’s should have a means to look up the qualifications of their crew members and assign work accordingly.

In closing I would like to say, every trade out here is a skilled trade. Why else would the company pay everyone a skill premium? I know the company is in a financial strain right now and I am sympathetic to the situation, but I will protect the integrity of this JCBA. Lots of changes have occurred this year, and I’m sure there is more to come. If you feel like there is a contractual violation taking place get with your steward and generate a grievance. Help me help you hold this company accountable for their missteps. The document is called an ”AGREEMENT” for a reason, at one time both sides agreed to conduct business as written.

Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless

We are taking donations now till the end of December 2020 for Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. Gently used clothing, blankets, gloves, shoes and SOCKS. Socks are the most requested item for all ages, male & female. There will be a box in the Administration Building in the front lobby area in about a week.  We are accepting donations at the TWU Union Office on Pine as well, please drop by with your items. Thank you, your donations help the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless. A lot of people find themselves out of work this year. Unfortunately, some may be homeless for the first time in their lives.

TURKEY DRIVE

Booker Walker – an MLS on the Tulsa Base is working with Tracy Hardin, TWU E-Board Officer, in collecting Thanksgiving Turkeys this year. They will be taking up collections through November 20th, 2020. In the past American Airlines had matched the amount of Turkeys the union collected for the John 3:16 Mission in Tulsa. This year, Booker was notified the company will not be able to do that. If every one of our TWU members were able to purchase just one extra Turkey (or Ham), our union workforce could feed 4000 families in Tulsa this Thanksgiving. Can you imagine how fantastic it would be to reach that goal?
