Legislation
When session started in February, the Oklahoma AFL-CIO was tracking almost 350 bills that would have affected our
members. Through the work of many labor organizations, many bad legislative bills have already died. However; there are still bills out there that we are pushing to pass (which would help working Oklahomans), and others we are still trying to kill. These bills include; destroying teachers’ pensions, changes to workers’ compensation, attacks on dues deductions, and legislation that would require locals to have to re-sign every member every five years. These are just a few!

President Jimmy Curry’s Report
The first Bill deadline passed last week and we are now only tracking 156 bills out of the over 2,000 bills that had originally been filed by Legislators.
Many bills that were just bad for working families were killed in their respective Committees by the outstanding work of many of our Labor Lobbyists. Working together on a multitude of bills with different positions, deceptive languages in legislation and other issues made the work very intense but I was proud of the way all of the Labor Lobbyists worked TOGETHER to reject this bad Legislation, because WORK CONNECTS US ALL!”
