On March 31, 2008, a new FAA rule came into effect for mechanics.
14 CFR 65.15(d) was added that dictates, “Except for temporary certificates issued under §65.13, the holder of a paper certificate issued under this Part, may not exercise the privileges of that certificate after March 31, 2013.”
Visit the FAA website for verification and compliance: http://www.faa.gov/licensescertificates/airmencertification/ or read the FAA’s WingTips Newsletter for more info. If you have already obtained the new plastic Airmans Certificate, you are in compliance with the ruling and no further action is required.
NOTE: If you are a Pilot the expiration date is March 31, 2010.
