On Friday I met with The Management Team for Hangers 1,2 & 3. During the meeting, we discussed their plans to change the rebid/realignment. This process is set to begin on Monday for Crew Chiefs and shortly after for Crew Members.
The plan presented shows a 20% drop in crew who are scheduled for Saturday & Sunday off, leaving a large majority of the crew in an undesirable shift. I expressed that as your union representation I vehemently oppose this plan. I let the Management Team know that there is no reason for a drop that large and that the contract says the company will do everything in their power to keep a Saturday & Sunday off business model.
The proposed plan, in my opinion, does not fit that contractual standard. I am sure that not having weekends off will have a negative effect on the business as well as many of your lives. Please know that we will continue to stress our opposition for this plan however the company has not given us any reason to believe that they will not move forward with this terrible business decision.
