This happened because all of the positions that were supposed to be posted were not posted.
In the February 1st Informer issue, we reported that Local 514 had issues with the transfer freeze and had persuaded the company to post the current openings at the Tulsa Base and then fill “A” vacancies prior to assigning the recalls and reassignments. However, not all positions that were supposed to be posted were posted. It would not be fair to offer these positions that may be considered more favorable and could affect previous transferees who are locked out. Also, the company did not recall members by seniority in some instances.
This would cause grievances because members who would move to recall positions, out of seniority, would have transfer rights while senior members, still waiting to be moved, would not be able to transfer until they move into their recalled position. So, continue to watch the Bid Board for the openings to be reposted. This did not affect Stores or Title 2 shop-to-shop transfers.
