Response to misinformation being distributed at the Tulsa Base, September 15, 2017

Local 514 President
Dale Danker

514 member’s

The board became aware of a letter circulating the base today. This letter is full of misleading and divisive information intended for one purpose and one purpose only, and that is to cause confusion and division among our members.

Last night at the Northeastern Oklahoma Central Labor Council meeting Local 514 Treasurer, D’Ann Johnson mentioned to the council the opportunity for other locals to possibly utilize our Union Hall and other facilities, i.e. office space, sign shop in the future. She also informed the council of our scope concerns in regard to our ongoing negotiations with American Airlines.

In regard to our Local being in financial hardship, this simply is not true. Since taking office in 2013, your local leadership has grown the general funds by more than $2.5M. This is unprecedented, especially in a time of negotiations and membership levels declining primarily due to retiring fleets and the outsourcing agreement that we all have been living with since the 2012 bankruptcy.

This leadership has been under constant attack from a small group of members who are closely aligned with a member who ran office but ultimately lost. This small alliance (according to our last election results) has brought frivolous charges against this leadership more than once. These charges take time and resources away from our primary purpose, which of course is to represent our members.

At the NEOLC meeting last night, two of the members that have filed charges against the elected officers were in attendance. Of course this just might be a weird coincidence, you can be the judge of that.

In closing, please contact your local officers for accurate and unfiltered information. Our cell phone numbers are posted on every bulletin board on base. It’s obvious this small haters group will not stop attempting to discredit the local leaders with misleading “fake news” designed to cause division in a time when we need local unity more than ever.

There are no secrets at Local 514, we have 5 meetings a month to prevent them.

Union,
Dale
