Sam Cirri’s Letter to the Membership

By now, everyone knows the results of the vote. Local 514’s results for M&R was 74%
Yes to 26% No. For Stores, it was 89% Yes and 11% No.

Dealing with this bankruptcy process has put a lot of stress on all of us and our families
and, yet, we still have a lot of work and sacrifice ahead of us with layoffs and the
movement of people and work.

We realize that voting to give up work rules and benefits that took years to negotiate is
very disheartening. This was not an easy choice for anyone. We have been divided for
far too long and it is time we again work at being one.

Local 514, with the help of our staff, will be making every effort to assist our members
over the next several months. As a member of 514 you have a large and very important
footprint in Oklahoma. Our community has always been able to count on us for help in
times of trouble. Now our community will be there for us when we need it. We will be
notifying United Way agencies, the unemployment office, Resume’ builders, etc., to aid
any member who does not stay with American Airlines. We are also in the process of
making more medical insurance options available whether you stay with the company or
not.

One of the top issues we plan to improve is our communications. Communication should
be a two way street between the membership and the TWU Executive Board. We believe
it is important to mend this situation as soon a possible. Hearing the concerns of the
membership is one of our top priorities.

Can we fix every concern? No, but we can work on the major concerns of the
membership. The Executive Board and I are committed to getting this done.

Fraternally,
Sam Cirri, President
