Now, to honor the memory of him and to raise money for research, TWU 514 member Phil Jordan has helped organize the first El Paso Stroll for Epilepsy. This first stroll had over 450 participants, which included 30 TWU local 514 El Paso members and their families.
This event supported the Epilepsy Foundation Texas, for the El Paso community and exceeded their goal by raising $14,800 to help provide programs and services free of charge to those with epilepsy through Camps, Clinics, Employment Services, and Education.
The Foundation is dedicated to erasing the stigmas and myths surrounding epilepsy and seizures. Although PC Jr suffered from epilepsy that eventually took his life at the age of 20, he never allowed it to prevent him from participating in activities that were important to him. Walkers were asked to wear purple that day for epilepsy awareness. Where as the Mayor of El Paso read a proclamation stating, March 26 will be known as “Purple Day, Seizure Awareness Day”
