Obituary for Marvin Alan Magnus

Marvin A. Magnus, of Broken Arrow, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by family and friends at the age of 68. The youngest of seven children, Marvin was born on January 10, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Ernest H. and Bertha E. (Jesfjeld) Magnus.

He will be greatly missed by his children Daniel Magnus and Nicole (Jayme) Noelke; grandchildren Molly, Charlotte, Samuel and Hudson Noelke. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Lankenau, Judy Fleschner, Ginger Cadwell and brother Cecil (Mary) Magnus, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in his death by his parents and sisters, Marlene Clark and Sally Clark.

Shortly after graduating high school, Marvin joined the Air Force as a mechanic working on F-15 fighter jets with tours in Germany and New Mexico. Following his military service, he continued working on F-15’s for McDonnell Douglas in Saudi Arabia. Marvin then began his 33 year career working at American Airlines in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he worked until his death.

Marvin will be remembered as a loving and devoted father, grandfather, uncle and friend. His children and grandchildren were the light of Marvin’s life. He was an active participant in their activities, especially soccer where he coached both Nicole and Molly. He loved to BBQ for competitions, charities and for his family and friends. He loved to travel, especially back to his home state of Michigan and to southern California to visit family. He was a huge fan of the Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) and the Detroit Lions. Marvin loved a well built car and owned many. NO Fords please. He was a fan of NASCAR and attended many races.

He had a deep love and connection to his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a calm and kind man who always had an encouraging word for anyone who needed it. Marvin maintained lifelong friendships with the people he came across and will be remembered as a trusted and loyal friend, an excellent and respected mechanic, and someone who could be trusted to help with anything you needed.

Daniel and Nicole will be forever grateful to Marvin’s closest friends and family who helped him and supported them at the end of his life.

Marvin’s celebration of life will be held on January 14, 2024 at 11:30am at the Stokely Event Center. 10111 East 45th Place, Tulsa, OK 74146. Donations in Marvin’s name can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project or The American Cancer Society.
