Obituary of Cody Turpen

Anthony Dee “Cody” Turpen was born February 24, 1954 in Fort Hood, TX to James Dee & Shirley Ann (Andrews) Turpen and passed from this life on May 30, 2021 at the age of 67.

Cody was more than a husband, father, friend and papa; he was an avid dog lover who rescued dogs and brought them home to be loved. Big Boss and Walker are missing him greatly. Cody enjoyed the outdoors and adventure, which he shared with his family. His son Cale and he went fishing and rode motorcycles often. Papa loved his granddaughters Molly Blue and Ruby Scout. They brought so much love, joy and laughter to his life.

You would never find a harder worker than Cody. At 35 years of age he went back to school and switched occupations from automotive marketing to aircraft mechanic. His first day of employment at American Airlines was February 25, 1989. He loved his AA family and did numerous jobs while employed there but working the cockpit was his forte. He was always proud to say, “I am an American Airlines employee.” His wings have taken him home.

Preceded in death by his parents Cody is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jan Marie (Jaqueth) Turpen; his son and daughter-in-law, Cale Mourar & Nichole Turpen; and his grandchildren, Molly Blue Turpen and Ruby Scout Mentzer.

A Life Celebration will be held at the TWU514 Union Hall, 11929 East Pine Street. This will take place at 4:00pm on Saturday, June 19th. There will be beverages and snacks served.
