Obituary

Garry Lee Deason, Sr. left this earthly home on February 6, 2024. Born to Cecil and Lois (Berkley) Deason on August 31, 1939, in Cowlington, Oklahoma, Garry was the born the sixth of 15 children. When he was two years old, the Deason family moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with their ever growing family.  Growing up there, Garry attended Tulsa Public Schools. Then, early in 1959, Garry met Alice Ruth Herring from Jay, Oklahoma. The young couple quickly fell in love and married on August 11, 1959.  Just over a year later, their daughter Becky was born in August 1960. Son, Garry II, made his appearance in January of 1963, and desiring to have a larger family, the couple adopted three siblings; Alisa, Donna and Eddie in 1969. In 1971, Garry moved his family to Skiatook, Oklahoma, while he worked as a machinist at Unit Rig Corporation, which held strong family ties to his father, who had worked there for years.  He also spent several years working for Ramsey Winch Corporation, where his son Garry II later worked, too.

After leaving Skiatook and moving to Chelsea, Oklahoma, Garry, now employed by Centrilift, also worked long hours to support his wife in her greenhouse business.   Leaving Centrilift in the mid 80’s Garry found employment at American Airlines and moved back to Tulsa to be closer to his work and their young grandchildren. Garry and Alice, better known as Pap and Nan respectively, truly enjoyed their grandchildren.   Upon retirement, Garry enjoyed going to flea markets and sharing his finds with his family. Last but not least, Garry and Alice Deason shared in an enviable fairytale marriage of 57 years, before Garry’s precious Alice passed in 2016. After she went to be with the Lord, Garry spent time with his daughter Becky and son Garry, and their families, enjoying the children until God called him home.

Garry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice; parents, Cecil and Lois Deason and by siblings: Etheleen Phelps, Calvin Deason, J.D. Deason, Bettye Hess, Roy Deason, Ray Deason, Vernon Deason, Freda Deason, Raymond Deason, and Bruce Deason. He is survived by his siblings: Nettie and Vernon Hoffman, Buel and Sandy Deason, Beverly Rogers, and Kathey Brown, by his children: Becky and Mike Eubanks, Garry and Yong Nan Deason, Donna and Frank Eddings, and Eddie Deason, by grandchildren: Shawn and Karla Eubanks, Brandi Eubanks, Rebecca Alice (Lil Becky) Deason, Mandy and Josh Hwang, Garry III and Jessica Deason, Aaron Eddings, Forrest and Christina Eddings, and Caleb and Alexa Eubanks, eleven (soon to be twelve) great grandchildren, and an expected great-great-grandson.
