Obituary

Mark E. Martindale, age 66, joined his Heavenly Father peacefully in his home in the early morning hours of December 10, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Terri and their three children Jared, Andrew, and Mallory; father, John; twin brother, Michael; sister, Elizabeth Thoroughman and husband Spencer; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Joyce Ann Boydston Martindale.
A lifelong resident of Rogers County, Oklahoma, he was born along with his brother Mike on December 1st, 1954 to John and Joyce Martindale. He attended elementary school in Catoosa and the family soon welcomed his sister Elizabeth. The family then decided to purchase land near Tiawah and establish the Comaran farm. Mark finished the remainder of his secondary education at Inola High School, graduating as Valedictorian in 1973. After high school, he graduated from Claremore Junior College, took classes at The University of Oklahoma, and worked various jobs before settling into a role at Rainbo Bakery in Tulsa for many years. Mark met the love of his life, Terri Bruner, at Gracemont Baptist Church and they were married on December 21st, 1985. Mark and Terri had three children together and Mark loved watching his children compete in sports and band events. After Rainbo closed its doors, he went back to school to get his A&P license, establishing a long career as a mechanic at American Airlines. In 2012 he retired to spend more time with his family.
Mark had many hobbies including target shooting, farming, fishing, boating, reading books, and enjoying a good meal with good company. If you saw Mark around town, chances are Mike was with him. Mark loved being a twin and was nearly inseparable from his brother. Mark was a long-time member and volunteer at Battlecreek Church where he and his wife Terri watched babies in the nursery for 20 years. Mark had a strong work ethic and would often work a full day at his job before leaving to assist his father with his hay and farm businesses. Above all, Mark loved two things most: sharing the Gospel of Christ with others and enjoying time with his family and friends. He battled dementia the last few years of his life, but even through his illness he would still sing hymns and never missed a chance to tell his family how much he loved them. He had a smile that would light up a room and will be missed by many.
