The Passing of Retired Brother Nick Marlar

We are deeply saddened to share with you the passing of retired Brother Nick Marlar on June 20th, 2024.

Nick had started working here at American Airlines in 1961 and retired from the position of Aviation Maintenance Technician in the Hydraulic Shop in 1997.

 Obituary for Nick Gordon Marlar

Nick Gordon Marlar was born December 6, 1936, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Trevlyn Gordon Marlar and Laura Nichols Marlar. He died Thursday, June 20, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 87 years. After completion of high school, Nick proudly served his country honorably with the United States Navy. He spent most of his professional career as a hydraulic mechanic with American Airlines, retiring after 37 years. Nick was married June 23, 1978, in Miami, Oklahoma, to Patricia Katherine Sweetman.
Nick enjoyed a variety of pastimes including spending time on the water fishing as well as time spent going golfing. He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Nick” to his grandchildren who he dearly loved. Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:

Former daughters-in-law; Jacque Williamson and Michele Warren
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Laura Marlar, wife, Patricia Marlar, previous wife, Agnes Hulett, sisters, Joyce, Jacqueline, and Colet, brother-in-law, Ralph, and son, Mark Marlar.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2024, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the First Methodist Church in Owasso with Dr. Jim Cinocca officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in rural Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
