
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Wade Prentiss Jr., who left us on August 23, 2025.
Brother Prentiss started his career with American Airlines in 1973 as an Aviation Maintenance Technician.
As he transitioned to retirement in 1996, Brother Prentiss remained a valued member of our local community, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of wisdom to those around him.
We will deeply miss his presence, but we take comfort in the countless memories and experiences we shared with him throughout the years. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, including those of our members and families who knew him.
To the family of Brother Prentiss, we offer our sincerest condolences during this difficult time. May you find solace in the love and support that surrounded him throughout his life.

Wade Jr., Prentiss Lee
Birth date: Feb 8, 1936 – Death date: Aug 23, 2025
Prentiss (Sonny) Lee Wade Jr. was born at home on Feb 8th, 1936 in Dewar, Ok. He lived most of his live in Tulsa, Ok and lived the past 3 years in Owasso, Ok. at Oklahoma Baptist Village. Prentiss was 89 when the Lord called him home on Saturday, Aug 23, 2025.
Prentiss was predeceased in life by his parents, Prentiss Wade and Mary Jane Wade and his sister Patty Reid.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Wade of 65 years, his son Kelly Patrick Wade and wife Stephanie Wade, his daughter Jonna Renee Reed and husband Jeff Reed, his youngest daughter Lisa Michelle Payne and husband Richard Payne, His sister Irma Dean Walker, and 6 grandchildren, Cheyenne, Jeffrey, Kelsey, Chloe, Jarrett, Dalton, and Avery, 4 great grandchildren, Lenna, Baylor, Wade and Brody.
Prentiss went to Dewar High School and then served in the Army/Air Force and was honorably discharged. Then he went to school at Spartan Aeronautics, from there he spent the next 24 years working at American Airlines as a mechanic until his retirement in May of 1996.
Prentiss really enjoyed attending church, golfing, singing, and most of all spending time with the family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Prentiss impacted many lives while participating in these activities.
If you know Prentiss, you have probably heard him say these phrases when talking to him. When you asked him, “how are you feeling?” his response was “with my hands”. Or when he had an ache or pain somewhere, you might ask him, “how did you get hurt?” and he would say, “too many birthdays”. No doubt he had a funny story or response for anything. He was a very funny man and a pleasure to be around.
Prentiss will be sorely missed but, is having the time of his life in Heaven catching up with the friends and loved ones who have gone before him. The family would like to thank you for taking the time to celebrate the life of Prentiss, Sonny, dad, poppy. We would like to also thank and acknowledge the nurses and aides and all those involved in the love and care you have given to him and to Season’s Hospice for making Prentiss comfortable in his last days.
